Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Don't worry, you'll be the first to hear about it if it isn't.

I don't think the rain has done too much damage so far. The snowmeter at La Rosta (1660m) is showing a loss of 8cm since this morning. By the time I arrive tomorrow night, I expect that we will lose another 20cm but given that we should get 1 metre next week I wouldn't worry.

SAT Leman Bus at 13.30 according to the website. Bit late though.

Or go to the magic transfers desk at the airport and ask if they have space on a shared transfer. If they do you will have to go away and book and pay on line and then return as they can't sell tickets at the airport.

@under a new name, a bit tongue in cheek but the forum seems to get increasingly parochial and grumpy when conditions are less than "perfect". Didn't want to accused of having a vested interest and luring in innocents with falsehoods. Then again if they don't want to be told that it isn't necessarily Avoriaz because "that is the highest village" then it leaves more for me!

@DJL, parochial and grumpy" ? That's just me (and maybe zzz).

I will confess that it gets a bit tedious when the same old tripe gets dragged out at about the same point in time (or weather) every year (often by the same culrprits).

They should go and get jobs with the daily fail.

Peeing down in Morzine and has been all night. The Pleney is mostly green again.
All forecasts suggest it should be snowing in Avoriaz but can't see any snow line at the moment... Never known anything like it.
Got soaked yesterday, it was raining even at the very top...

It is pretty grim here at the moment agreed @Kruisler, how much longer do you have?

It's just too warm! I haven't needed to wear a proper coat since November.

Also I agree with Plaine Dranse- when I have good skiers over we head there straight away - beautiful pistes

Looks like we won't stay long enough to see any improvement. Heading up now but not sure we'll stick at it today. The hangover is lessening the motivation further...

Very very wet in Les Gets. But the last of our family have just left, eventually, OH taken the fog out, and I can turn round the chalet, light the fire and find something good on the TV later. Phew, is exhausting being a friendly hostess, hat off to those who do it for a living all the time.

Webcams look horrible this morning, such a shame, a small group of us are thinking about booking a long weekend trip for the end of feb in morzine, seriously thinking it may not be worth the risk now and try and get a late deal if the weather starts to play ball, here's hoping next weeks snow and colder temps help out.

Hi,

Got a quick question and I cant find the other thread to post this on so apologies for that.

I used the online service last year to top up my ski pass but was wondering how you know what your points balance is when doing this as they don't print it on the card? I cant remember if it displayed the points balance or not.

Any ideas?

Check it here: http://pass.lesgets.com/GB_home.html

Although I don't completely trust it. Have had free days on passes in the past and this hasn't picked them up. I emailed and was told I'd need to check at the lift pass office.

Small positive : it's snowing in Avoriaz, although it's wet snow. Low visibility so it's hard work but we'll take anything at this point... The Tetras run to Super Morzine is closed, the rain ruined it.

@Kruisler, The Zore run which runs parrallel with the Tetras is still open though according to the live plan. Would have thought that would be in trouble aswell though as it runs at the same heights.

Just on my way home from 3 days in Morzine (Trip with the girls). Have never been so wet on the slopes. Having said that the snow has been great higher up. Better than this time last year when i was at La Clusaz. Today was wet to start with but at the top of Belvedere it was snowing hard and settling. The bottom of Pleney looks wrecked. Stopped raining in the village now which will hopefully preserve the snow up top.

@ODG, thanks for the link, will check it out this evening. Whenever I have wanted to use points in the past I have always done it at the pass office.

I love that the PDS has this points scheme, I had two "free" days last year when out with the lads so had even more money to spend on lunch Laughing

I skiied Avoriaz, Linga and Pre La Joux today. Slopes were generally in great shape, though we stayed above 1600m in the main. Weather in the morning was a bit grotty, but lovely later in the day and even finished the day with a bit of sunshine Very Happy

A Few surprises today: the forecasts were right and the rain turned into snow in Avoriaz for one, and also the low clouds cleared about 1pm so snow stopped and we could see where we were going! Much fun was had. So today turned into a good day on the mountain!
That is until I went off piste, hit a rock at full speed and broke my board.. Sad

When do people think the stash (and chapelle) might open? Not coming for a bit so no hurry, but the stash is a big part of the reason for the visit.

Also don't trust my fine tour operator not to lose my bag and skis; can I walk to Antares apartments easily, I'm reasonably fit? I believe it's on the far side and there are elevators etc.

Any restaurant or general tips welcome too.

Thanks! Enjoy the snow, looks like next week may be the saviour, touch wood.

@Fourstar, Antares is the highest block in Avoriaz, assuming you get dropped at the coach unload you'll be best to walk over to the Welcome Centre and rent a luggage luge (E1 in the slot) and load your bags on. Then you pull that all the way downhill through the main street, take the public lift outside the Snow building to the top, walk along the corridor and outside, cross the road and take the lift up Multivacance (may have a new name). At the top you walk along the corridor and out onto a covered walkway that takes you in to Antares reception.

Or you could just take your bags to the welcome centre and get a horse-drawn sleigh to take you straight up there. Or you could just trust your TO (unless standards have dropped since I was doing it!). snowHead

General tips: Enjoy Madeye-Smiley ! And wear a back protector if you're going big in the Stash.
