Hi all .... Really good day .... Lovely piste skiing to orelle - cold and windy at the top but beautiful everywhere else.
Vt pistes in good shape but a lot of people about - more in vt than rest of 3v for sure - some icy windblown patches but all manageable.
Off piste is tricky - some really nice powder pitches but some windblown ice too which is VERY challenging in places. Need to avoid the rocks everywhere
More sun tomorrow ..... Need more snow but its pretty good considering.

Day 2 in 3 V.
Very good skiing over again to VT. Blue sky day with very decent snow
Gone down from VT to Orelles via Cime Caron. The black run was icy and bumpy. Overall still very enjoyable day.
Temperature still low to allow use of snow canons tonight even as low as St Martin. It's a pretty encouraging sign.
Will try to ski over to the Courchevel side tomorrow. Seems to be ok over there too. Has anyone skied in Courchevel today?

Some good long pitches of powder to be found if you can align the right stars of slopes heltered from yesterday's winds, not too steep (still some funky layers), not too rocky underneath (there are a few slopes that had reasonable cover pre the last snowfall), and not too low to drop into too much of the rain-affected stuff...
Good skiing up high in Courchevel this morning, though everything lower down looks a bit the worse for wear... Mottaret also very good, though the Plan des Mains restaurant has gone downhill since last year in my estimation (or maybe we caught them on an off day!).

Thanks PBJ!
Just got up and it's still pretty cold out there and snow canons did work whole night last night. So Courchevel it is for today

Another good day - la masse in morning .... Lovely pistes and good snow on north facing slopes. Few icy patches lower down but really nice overall.
Lunch at the burger bar in mottaret - superb for e8 !
Courchevel in afternoon - nice snow in combe but got very windy All links except saulire cable car closed .... Luckily we went via lauze and they opened the boulevard back to meribel which was closed yesterday due to avi risk I guess.
At one point all links from meribel to courchevel were closed - but pas du lac opened from about 3 to get people home.
Up for a few laps round Olympic ROC de fer - nice snow again .... Seeing other comments elsewhere I'm worried I'm being too positive.... But its really OK !!! If you are a half competent piste skier then you will be having a good time !
Still .... Do Need more snow .... The MD of meribel lift company says they need another 1m asap.
Lots of people still being bussed in to vt every day from lower resorts.

A tricky day for finding soft snow! As @PBJ says, very windy, and it has taken its toll on the snow quite rapidly.
Fortunately the PowderRadar (Trademark pending) was deployed and set on overdrive mode and we managed to sniff out some nice pitches of softer snow here and there:
Fingers crossed that this weekends precipitation comes to fruition and that it stays colder!

@PBJ, don't worry about being positive - I agree with you there is some good skiing to be had... If you pick and choose where you ski and when some of the pistes have a great surface - there may not be much underneath but as an example the blue down into 1650 after the long traverse has been really good grippy firm and smooth the last 2 days at 4p.m.! Things do look pretty bare in lots of places but the Service des pistes are doing a great job considering, and while not everything is open and some things that are open probably shouldn't be there is still plenty of good skiing to be had. (As a general tip it is worth being on first lifts and making the most of the overnight grooming for as long as possible...!).
(And before anyone accuses me of having a commercial interest in talking up the conditions 95% of my winter is fully booked already so I don't need to attract anyone to the 3V!! )

Super day - started in creux with about 10cm of fresh then Suisse's several laps as so good.
Definitely needed to pick your piste and your route as the wind has moved lots of snow around. So the gully type pistes were filled and the exposed ones windblown ice !
Took a whack on the shin with a ski in the off piste under Suisse's - icing it now .... Not pretty !
Stayed meribel and courchevel sides .... All good.

Ray Lambert reports on his blog that the local forecast predicts:
abondantes chutes de neige Friday evening and night. Unfortunately with a bit of wind (tartiflette related sans doute). Then next week to be hivernale.

Yes great day today especially if you found the right pitches.
We went to 1650 in morning and found some lovely powder off chanrossa - actually well off towards fruit !
Plenty of other really nice sections around that in sheltered areas.
Lunch in la Tania ..... Skied down to le praz too .... All fine to you pessimists !!!
Pm over to St martin and finished lapping tougnete 3 which was bit more challenging with the sun below the ridge.
Lovely meal in le refuge to finish the day .... Snow tomorrow so looking good !!

Hasn't started dumping yet .... But looks like it might!
Cracking day .... Again .... Down to led menuires in morning but headed straight back as really windy and warning of lift closures.
Back Down to meribel , up Olympic to ridge, over to courchevel, lauze, back to Olympic etc ....awesome. Pistes in really good shape - off piste pretty mixed tbh .... Sopib beckons !
Cochise superb.
Finished with great evening with Mikey grey in jacks ..... Awesome !!

Been snowing all night and day, just starting to clear now. Visibility was coming and going all day but some nice snow to be found. Generally around 30cm of fresh stuff but some deeper spots if you know where to look:

Blue skies and sunshine today, and a cold night had sucked a lot of the moisture out of the snow. Still quite shallow off piste, with many hidden rocks, but pistes are in reasonable shape. More snow due this week.

5/10 for the pistes in vt and la masse today with plenty of bona fide ice to keep us honest along with the odd piece of alpine flora poking thru the hardpack
Decent skiing but more snow would be very welcome

Nice and cold in 3V today, for the majority of the day. It was around -6 C in LM/VT this morning, although it did warm up this afternoon when the sun poked through. Looks like the is a front slowly moving in.
The snow was cold and grippy in the main. There were the odd hardpacked sections, just to keep you on your toes, although these are mostly below 2000m. There is the very occassional patch of ice, but nothing servious.
Some light deep patch off piste as well, although it's mostly fairly well tracked out now.
