Evening Tignes fans, has the new A41 motorway extension from just north of Annecy direct to the Swiss Border reduced the transfer times from GVA to Tignes at all? If so what kind of time are we looking at now with a hire car from GVA?
Cheers,
Greg

We did it in under 2 hours last Thursday evening. Mind you our driver was a former resident of Tignes who treated the road like his own private racetrack all the way up to Le Lac. I was happy to be sitting in the back.
So, in answer to your question, yes. It should knock 20-30 minutes off your transfer time depending on time of day.

jtobin, I stayed in Chalet Neve 5 years ago. It was run by Ski World back then. It is in Lavachet and looks out to the bottom station of the paquis chair. There was a small ticket office only 5mins away near Harrys bar. The main Tourist office is a 10 min walk up in Le Lac at the bottom of the Aeroski.
If you look on the piste map the quickest route is 2 min walk sraight up the road to the Lavachet lift (used to be a free lift), then ski down Rosset, and the Tourst office is sat on the piste at the bottom of Rosset/Trolles. That way you don't require a pass before you don your boots.
Also your nearest bus is at the bottom of Lavachet where the red bus on the piste map.
The walk is only 2 mins, but is up hill so when icy, isn't brill.
You can't walk across to the Paquis chair due to a stream. But when you have a pass, you can walk up-to Lavachet piste and ski down.
Brings back a few memorys of another trip when we stayed in Le Lac and on the way back from Harrys bar we sled down Lavachet on some bin liners we had found outsde a local Hotel and came across a Ski-Doo that had been parked for the night, where the piste goes under a bridge (if only they had left the keys ).
Have a good time.
Nick

back from a week of the good stuff. good snow, good lines, good company.
swung by the Alpaka for a quick beer on friday afternoon when the visibility shut us down, and got well and truly Mutzigged. highly recommended watering hole, but do be wary of the potential consequences.

stewart woodward, good to hear there's more snow on the way. just got back from an amazing week, with more powder at the beginning of the week and more bluebird days than i could have imagined. but it's getting a bit tracked out now. "if carlsberg did snowboarding holidays, they would host them in tignes..."

Secondly we took the new Tufs lift and skied the top colouir just to the right of the Aeroski and then traversed to the top of the Lavachet wall, access being gained through the avalanche barriers. This descent into Lavachet is one of the best runs in the resort but is very dangerous after new snowfalls. The snow here was light powder and fresh tracks were easy to achive
|
Is that the same as the Pentes du Lavachet or is that somewhere different?

Must thank Ski Republic for the loan of a pair of big planks for the morning. I will not mention the make as i was not impressed
