Hi all, am looking for retail assistance...I was in Tignes recently and saw a great jumper in Richermoz Sports in Tignes Le Lac (same side of the road as the Arbina, opposite Precision Sports). I think it was Roxy - a black cowl neck woman's sweater with dark pink hearts. It was €75, so I thought I'd try and track it down in the UK sales, but I can't find it. Maybe I've got the brand wrong...but if anyone had the time and could pop in to locate the jumper, and give me the brand and model name, or perhaps serial number - anything that will help me find it over here - I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a lot!

Mountain dining.
Which of the many mountain eateries should I look out for or avoid.
I dont want to end up paying 15 euros and more for a drink and a small light bight at lunch time.

Renry, Theres a restaurant near the snowpark between Tignes and Val. Think its called Marmottes? It tends to be one of the cheaper ones. The one up alongside Grattalu is very pricey IIRC as are most of the others.
Do what a lot of the instructors do. Go into the Spar (formerly casino) shop just round to the left of Intersport in Tignes le Lac. Turn right as you enter the shop and theres a cafe counter/takeaway. Reasonable choice for a light snack and hot/cold drink for not a lot of money.

Renry, Oh yes, avoid times when ski lessons are just ending or you won't be able to move for red jackets

maggi, I haven't given up yet! Just e-mailed Roxy to see if they could identify it from my description. Failing that, I may just have to go back to Tignes. Tough choice

Fantastic snow and good-ish weather. Light was very flat early and late in the day. Quite a cold wind blowing over the higher lifts and somewhat bizarrely they were running the covered chairs on Bolin and the open ones on Fresse. More snow forecast for tomorrow and a big party in the square featuring DJ David Guetta. My 17 year old is ecstatic.

Fantastic day. Fabulous light after the murk of yesterday. Loads of new snow overnight meant that the pistes were pretty mogully by the end of the day. Only problem is the New Year crowds on the popular pistes. I had to wait a good 15 minutes to get on Fresse at about 2.30.

right - time to try and read the 14 pages of this thread and get some inside info on Tignes as I've just booked and I'll be here on 1st Feb!!!!
Fully inclusive package from Bristol for less than £500 (ok probably could have got a better deal waiting till later - but I wanted to fly from Bristol and wanted to be in Tignes as some other mates will be here that week!!!!)

thats the key - the local airport bit. i now know from experience that you can always get last minute deals but often bristol flights are gone - guess its a pretty popular airport with a wide catchment for folks from south west and wales as well as gloucester way.
anyway next activity in my lunchbreak now is to search out tignes webcams and snow reports!!!!!

I'm in tignes at the moment and although it hasnt snowed for a while, the skiing is great - the piste bashers do a fantastic job of keeping everything in brilliant condition. It has been glorious sunshine since we arrived on Saturday so we're having a ball. I would without a doubt reccommend an area pass for anyone (like us) who hasnt been to Tignes before as VDI is so easily accessable. The ski area is huge and with littleor no queing at lifts, you can manage to do some milage!! We even did the Face run into VDI which was great fun - very challenging for a intermediate btu great banter! (Especially watching Missus Griffin sliding for about 500 m on her back after a slip!)
Have just a wee peek at the weather forcast for the next few days and looks like there may be a sprinkling but if I have time i will update.
PG
