DGO - do you know the the up to date situation rearding the cable-car at Murren? I have booked Grindlewald for one week starting 5th March and it it looks like ( from the SC's chat site site ) that the cable car will be out of operation for all January and MAY be back in operation from the begining of February. Do you have any on-the-ground information?

hibernia, I think that a reasonable assumption, they have to make I think 3km of cable, sheath it string it up and then safety test it, I'd say that the beginning of February might be very optimistic and would not be surprised if it takes much longer, especially if once the cable is ready they get any bad weather. Mind you this really ought to be in the Jungfrau Region thread !

D G Orf, that's actually a very good idea - especially since the top of the hot tub is on a level with the porch which is covered, so we should have a starting point. What I really need to do is find some one who is staying at "The Village" and get invited to share theirs....hmmm!

pollittcl, for future avoidance of problems may I suggest investment in a set of bamboo poles with flags on to aid in location, though judging by the weather reports you might need ones more than 20ft long

D G Orf, I was thinking that the snow might melt (eventually) because it is a HOT tub, and it's only covered in about 2 metres of powder!

kuwait_ian, sorry but I don't read Mills and Boon so I could not poosibly comment, however pollittcl, seems determined to stay in the US (and frozen hot tub asside who can blame her) and I'm sticking with the beautiful Swiss Alps so I can't see anything happening with at least 5,000 miles between us
