anyone got any advice on skipasses?
going with crystal and they have a fixed price of £200 but i know theyre 220eur which is about £180 atm. Is it worth buying online and getting it posted or just get in resort? ohhh and anyone know how far it is from the big Terranova hotel?
cannot wait! and great pics btw peeps!!

How far is *what* from the Terranova hotel? The liftpass office? If you buy with a decent TO, they should hand deliver them to you in the morning...
You can buy skipasses for La Plagne/Paradiski from http://www.skipass-laplagne.com/ - you get quite a discount I think. I bought my season pass from there and got about 20% off. It arrived after about 10 days... not used it yet, don't get there until a week on Sunday.

I should probably point out that I haven't used them before, but their site is linked from the La Plagne site itself, and they seem quite legit. Still, I used credit card in case something goes wrong and I need to chargeback.
Also you cannot pickup in resort, you need to have it posted, and they suggest up to 15 days, so you need to book it WELL in advance.

I think it's just season passes you can get discount for. The price PHoSawyer is quoting is more likely for a week. generally you don't get any discounts on lift passes - unless it's in the exchange rate?

Discount passes are available through www.edenski.fr which links to skipass La Plagne which links to an E commerce site (benmore) to carry out the sale!
I t was explained to me as retailer, wholesaler, manufacturer!
Basically the only discount widely available after this week is the 'family' pass.
How much the TO's sell their passes for is up to them.

I'm not sure how how/whether you can get discount or not - but for a 6 day "La Plagne Entire" (La Plagne area, no days out or trips across to Les Arcs) the "official" La Plagne website lists it as €222.50 - the site at http://www.skipass-laplagne.com/Product.aspx?num=19 lists it as €167.
I don't know if that includes sales tax or not... but even if sales tax were 20% it would still come in at around €200 - I can't remember if they charged postage or not, but if they did it was only pennies...
I *had* to order before November 15th to the get the 20% off my ski pass (paid 720 Euros for a full Paradiski pass) - I don't see any dates on the site now to restrict ordering, but I didn't look too hard.
Probably worth me saying again - I haven't used them before, and haven't yet arrived in France to test the card, but they have a phone number, a genuine account with Credit Agricole for payments, and seem quite legit (Bad website, terrible translation, as you might expect from a French company with international customers ) - they sent the card successfully, so I've no reason other than general paranoia to suspect there would be a problem.
Hope this info helps someone to save some cash... that way you can afford to buy the first round.

Boredsurfing - that makes sense - I guess if PHoSawyer wants a deal on passes, he'd better read this forum in the next week

Pretty epic! I was watching on the webcams too. I take my hat off to the one lone skier who skinned it all the way up to the top of Grande Rochette just in time to see the sunset. Seriously jealous but bet it was jolly cold up there. |
That was one hell of an effort by whomever it is.
At first I thought that it must have been a lift engineer who'd gone up on a test ride of the bubble but you can see what looks like tracks leading up from the direction of the Mira run to where the skier is standing.
Also, on the 16:20 panorama, the skier can just about be made out by the fence further on down the piste

Have any of you already in La Plagne seen a 2012/13 piste map yet ?
I was wondering if there were any lift changes other than those in Plagne Centre or whether any more pistes have been switched to "Naturelle" status.

Boredsurfing It always surprises me that the resort doesn't get the piste maps out and about earlier as a promotional tool. However, they haven't even bothered to update the "Official Interactive" map for a couple of years.
I regularly check the Perso website, so I'll keep an eye out.
Whilst on that subject, don't we have any bi-lingual Snowheads who could help out with translating some of their articles into English ?

Boredsurfing, Does any one know if the Vanoise is open this Saturday. I have received an email from SAP to say that Paradiski opens on Saturday but low villages are closed, stating Montchavin, Les Coches, Montalbet are closed.
How would you be able to come from Les Arcs to La Plagne if Les Coches is closed!
Any clarity would be appreciative.
Cheers

Ah, yes it is! The individual villages in the La Plagne area are pretty small - the Terranova is at the East end of La Plagne Centre, but given it's only about 500m or so to the other end, you should be able to get to/from the bars with only minimal staggering.
If you want to hit up the other villages too (there's a couple of decent places in Plagne Bellecote) the regular bus that runs between the villages runs until quite late night!

ahhh been obsessively looking at the snow report for La Plagne, looking like there should be around 50-60cm in the next 6 days. Bit of raind forecast for 1250m on sat and sunday though, boooo. Still shaping up nicely. Looking like a quick week in jan is going to be epic

Talking to the guys at www.cgski.co.uk last week in the falling snow they may agree having taken 5 hours to get from Lyon to Montalbert, chains on from Albertville!
