Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Incredible snow fall and amazing how localised. I'm amazed more people on this forum are not talking about it. A few posts but when 10cm was forecast and you get upwards of 150cm in a 24 hour period that is once every 10 year kind of stuff. Couple that with the fact only a couple of cm's fell just down the road and it's even more amazing.

I was going to go to Tignes and booked Chamonix at the weekend...gutted now !!

This reminds me of the Feb 99 storms...incredible, but they carried on all month !

Going to be dangerous as anything after this..take care if you are going.

arv, Mental hey !!

I'm so gutted as I was this close to booking Tignes but went for Chamonix as it was so much cheaper....as in £1000 instead of £3500 for the accomm ! I hope this storm goes over the hill to Chamonix...its snowed heaps through the tunnel !! Typical...but greats news for those in Espace Killy.. Smile

Agreed.

By Weds, Val d'Isere and Tignes are likely to have seen around 150 - 300cm of snowfall over the previous 3 - 4 days. That makes it one of the biggest snowfalls in Alpine history.

Posting thumbnails is peasy - for example on this page http://www.snowmediazone.com/the_zone/showphoto.php/photo/14855 - see at the bottom of the page it says linked thumbnail? All you do is copy the whole of that line

I was up in Tignes on Monday in the midst of the mighty 1m dump. In 8 seasons I have never seen snow like this in mid-December.

Very little was open on Monday because of the avalanche risk so I wasn't too upset that I was on a work rather than a skiing mission. I'd love to hear from anybody who skied in the area yesterday or today tho'. It must have been epic. I'm back home in Cham where it's our turn for the snow. 10cm in town overnight and it's still coming. Forecast for more of the same tomorrow. Courmayeur trees again I think.

Most lifts open today as far as we could see. Cos the vis sucked. Not too bad down La Daille in the trees. Still snowing...

It's going to be better tomorrow. Sun please, cos the snow is brilliant. I just can't ski what I can't see.

Try both Tignes Brevieres/boisses or le Fornet at the top of the Val d`Isere valley, both good in flat light; enjoy!! Madeye-Smiley Madeye-Smiley

Got back from Tignes this lunchtime after 3 glorious weeks away Very Happy Very Happy I had the time of my life!-Fantastic snow everywhere and despite the bad visibility during some days I have absolutely no complaints, it was all seriously, seriously, good Very Happy Very Happy

Will try and post some pics later, couldn't post pics whilst I was away on this laptop-just waiting for my other laptop to fire up-the cable has stopped working properly to charge it!

For anyone heading out to Tignes over the next couple of weeks-you are in for a real treat snow wise especially when the weather brightens up.

I shall be returning to Tignes at a later date this season I feel! snowHead
