Webcams seem to show light snow at Mannlichen/Schilthorn and rain at village level. What's the snow like? Travelling out next week so interest levels are perking up!

Agenterre, doubt it, the real truth here is I want to go touring in spring and I'll be the 1st to admit a snowboard isn't practical for that, so in short I have to learn to ski well enough to do a tour on the jungfraujoch by april/may. 4 uncontrolled descents of the mighty figeller today leaves me doubting myself, I just don't get how to do it.

Snowforecast generally seems on the optimistic side - this might only mean that it'll be cloudy

stab, perhaps you might try snowblades first, then once you've got the hang of having to co-ordinate two sets of edges (blades are dead easy and great fun), you could go up to longer planks - a stylised ski evolutif if you will....

AdrianV, disagreed. Blades require a very different balance. Skis want to be pressured on the front, On blades that will make you fall over the first little bumb you meet. This front pressure thing is a major hurdle when adults learn to ski. (kids get away with backseat skiing easily)

The Fallboden will be out for the season.
Jungfraubahnen are purposely making improvements to the lift beyond the requirements of the chairlift rules. They however will take more time (in part due availability of material) and will be made during summer. More wind measuring equipment will be installed.
They will increase train capacity from Kleine Scheidegg to Eigergletcher to cope with the loss of the Fallboden.

Chris Brookes, lousy follow-up: Fohnstorm today, heavy fallwinds off the Jungfraujoch, very similar to the day of the Fallboden accident.
Almost had to pole down from Startbar to Russisprung, Lauberhorn to wixi was scating&poling.
