Right then, some good news for a change, Mother scheduled for discharge from hospital Wednesday afternoon, Social Services have arranged extra support for me in mornings and evenings so things are looking up, mind you she would have been released a week ago but the ward's been shut due to a really nasty virus doing the rounds, I say nasty because I caught it as well and it was a distinctly unplesant experience for a few days.
so it looks like ski trip is definately going to be on I just have to work out the transport situation, not easy when the rail timetables beyondmid December still have not been published

Ah, now that could be a problem, coz it's a well known fact that Wengen nurses are rubbish.
Just look here: that nurse has failed to to get a single mouthful in the right place.
She's even managed to get some of it on the face of her assistant. I'm not going there!

It's ok Jonpim those "Nurses" can only be found at the hotel Regina, I'm told the village medical facilities are good but that emergencies get the helicopter to Interlaken which I'm also told is a specialist treatment center for knee injuries, handy for skiers

Just thought that this thread had been quiet for too long, anyway I'll be in Wengen from 30th Jan until the 15th of Feb inclusive, not that anyone will be interested, I just thought I'd keep trying

D G Orf, Happy New Year! You'll be in your favourite Wengen when I'll be in my favouite La Plagne.
I'll be surrounded by hundreds of gorgeous GasGirls, but will not manage to pull one.

D G Orf, Funnily enough I seem to fit all your criteria for a ski companion, but I can't make Wengen in Feb (sigh)! However, if you wanted to come to California......... But I must warn you that I do like to start skiing when the lifts open, so my ski day goes something like this -
7:00 Wake up, wash, dress etc.
7:15 Breakfast.
7:30 2nd cup of coffee, or dig out car if it has snowed.
7:45 Leave for resort.
7:55 Arrive at resort.
8:00 Arrive at locker room and start getting boots on.
8:00 First lift, and first run at 8:45 - the Funitel takes about 10 minutes.
10:30 Coffee.
12:30 Lunch on the mountain - fuel rather than a fantastic meal.
1:00 Back skiing.
3:30 Last run, unless I really feel like night skiing.
4:30 Meet people for drinks.
5:30 Head back to the cabin, and jump in the hot tub - clothing optional.
6:00 Think about dinner.
6:30 Think about dinner again, and decide to make a sandwich in a while coz I'm too tired to got out, or to cook!
7:30 Eat sandwich (I've usually got out of the hot tub by now! )
8:00 Brush teeth and fall into bed, and go straight to sleep.
2 am Wake up to wonder if it is snowing, and if it is I worry about digging the car out!
7:00 Start all over again.
Might sound a bit boring, but I'm on the mountain to ski, not to drink and eat all the time, and I'd rather not waste skiing time!
The best thing is that I get to do this every weekend although for the last couple of days I've spent far too much time digging the car out, and I had to come home yesterday whilst there was a break in the storm, and the pass was actually open - and the snow was fantastic 
(although the wind was something else entirely)
So if anyone wants to come and ski with me........

California is a bit of a way from the South of England just for a week-end! I think DGO can be let off with Wengen again for this year.
