@snowball, Dent Parrachée, E face in shade, S face / chaise du pape just catching a bit of sun, Col des Hauts down and left. Trying to figure the angle, but probably from Termignon pistes?

Correct. You walk up a short way from the pistes of the little resort of Aussois to the col and Ski down to Termignon. This is taken from the pistes of Termignon once they get above the tree line. There are a couple of amazing quite steep couloirs through the trees, directly above the nursery slopes (see pic), that very seldom have enough snow to be skiable. Also some other more open and skiable ways down further skiers' left, or in the opposite direction down towards Val Cenis. Or you can climb up from the top lift and ski down the other side to the lake behind the Val Cenis ski area.
Termignon is rich because (I am told) they own the Grande Motte and its top lifts at Tignes. Otherwise it probably wouldn't warrant a ski resort, but it functions well as an extension of the Val Cenis ski area, now there is a connecting lift

@snowball, yep, the Porteille trees are amazing, and the Tannes/Erellaz couloirs definitely have some good skiing on their day (but do come with a health warning...). Not sure how much money Termignon make off Tignes - from a ski point of view the accommodation options are sadly gradually thinning out and over the years I have stayed there the restaurant options have also shrunk. Which is a shame as it is a great spot.
Anyway following on:

Well, that looks exciting (and a bit scary).
Reminds me that it is many years since I felt noticeably nervous on a ski slope. Perhaps I need to ski with smaller groups (and one of our regular group has got very nervous about very steep slopes so we tend to not do things like this).

Wow, plenty of ambience and lovely and steep. Little evidence of loading, sweet. Don’t recognise the peaks in the background - looks like a lovely arena that i know i haven’t skied. Great to learn of these spots.

Not Le Dent Parrachée East face, just mentioned? If so it is slightly less steep than I thought but still impressive.

We have a winner (The really steep bit is the top 200m of the face, though the photo is deceptive and the variation that we skied from part-way down - photo taken where we were branching right from the classic line (a possible first but info is pretty thin on the ground) - was not 'un-steep' either...).

In fact in this photo taken just above the other one you can see the lower Termignon piste in the trees (right of the river), and very top right is around where snowball's photo was taken...

First pic almost reminds me of the pitch down to mid station of the Bellecôte bubble from Roche de Mio after the scabby ridge (though pretty sure it isn't) - can't place the second pic though...

@snowball, second shot makes me think of Couloir des Militaires at Valfrejus... but then the top shot doesn't match, unless it is one of the steep pitches coming out of the Grand Vallon.

@offpisteskiing, I was thinking the two photos were from the same run, but I am wondering if you might be right. They are both Val Frejus. The first is after climbing up to the left from the top of the lifts (instead of to the right for the couloir des Militaires). There are at least three different ways down usually with steep parts, and one is really its own valley rather than a couloir. However I think now you may be right and the second pic may be the Militaires couloir.
So I think I have to give you that one.
Your go.

@snowball, oooh - well there you go - I was pretty sure the second was right, but the first was throwing me - I would put a good bet on it being one of the options to exit the upper half of Gd Vallon...
And now for something completely different:

@offpisteskiing, “more rock than snow” - could be another thread ;o)
Is the pesky dark rock on the arête or behind it? Not that your answer will help me.
Clue: is it somewhere remote or homely Alps?

@Grinning, the rocks are all on the skyline ridge... the classic ski line is the left hand one of the two.
And yes it is not Alpine... Will give a point for the massif rather than the line itself!

I realise my guesses do not quite have the tight resolution of a particular pitch or couloir but I’m guessing, @offpisteskiing, Iceland or Greenland: not experienced either yet.

@Grinning, that’s actually not a bad shout as the rock strata bear a vague resemblance to some parts of Iceland and Greenland but no, still wrong continent...

Wikipedia (never wrong or open to interpretation) puts Greenland and Iceland surprisingly on different continents - Iceland: Europe and Greenland: North America.
I learnt a new word: “physiographically”.
Now stymied!

Interesting! Mind you given that Iceland obviously sits on a fault line given all the volcanic/geothermal activity there that does make sense (in a geophysics way).
Wrong continent either way...!!
