@chocksaway,
What type of report is this?
Have you not read the other snowhead threads about lack of snow?

Well today we tried to ski from Val claret to the other glacier, via santons which we found to be shut. We now know why Face was so busy yesterday. Still non perturbed we decided to go down the Face again.
My daughter (11) got wiped out by a skier and has now a small fracture just below her elbow.
No cast just a sling, 4 days of ibroprehen and pain killers when she needs it.
So the rest of today was spent in the medical centre.
She is so desperate to ski tomorrow though,!
I didn't think at the time about getting the guys name and details , should I off ?

Yes.
A fracture may heal up fine but some injuries can require physiotherapy which may not be covered by your insurance.

@bigtoe,
I am so sorry to hear this. I thought it was extremely busy last week. I got hit head on from a snowboarder crossing in Val Claret, he was going so fast, and it was so crowded, he was bound to hit someone, and that someone was me.
Not an hour later, off to the side of La Daille, an uphill snowboarder came crashing into me....
then a couple days later, the back bottom sat next me on the Bollin lift put his ski between mine when getting off the the lift and left me in a pretzel.
I've been skiing 40 years, and have never even had a near collison, I'm very cautious.
Be careful out there everyone... conditions are precarious, and there are a lot of nutters out there.

There's enough snow - there's just too many people, and it's too technically difficult for a lot of them to be in control. I'm giving up. I've had nearly a fortnight here, which has included some good skiing, but it's getting harder and harder. Not worth getting injured. Instead I will look forward to my next ski trip, which is only three weeks away.

@Maireadoconnor, Very wise. No point risking the January ski trip in what will probably be excellent conditions for few extra runs on scrappy, crowded pistes.

I can totally imagine the situation....
I've got to wait until the end of Feb, but looking to get something cheeky scheduled in between...

Anybody got any silver moonboots?? I popped into the Embuscade last night and DJ Zebra and his mate were doing a quick set to amuse themselves - all very jolly - though it is a long time since I heard Tiger Feet by Mud played in public!! Tonight could be quite a night.........
We awoke to a thin layer of cloud which has slowly marched down the Hill and there are now a few flocons floating about which should continue through the evening until after midnight. So ahead of mates arriving on Saturday I popped to Bourg to fill the cupboards - but the biggest queue of the week and far worse than the Palafour at 9.05 was at the fish counter in Super U - evidently the tradition for NYE in these parts is oysters.
By the time we all wake up in the morning the sky should be clear with a bright cooler day to clear the remnants of the finest Veuve from the head. It will cloud over late in the day and start snowing down to 1800m by midnight. Saturday will be snowy/rainy all day with a snowline slowly dropping down to 1300m so by Sunday the pistes should be in much better condition. But this will make the trip out of resort slow unless you leave early (before 7) or late (after 1300), I suspect the police will be checking for chains...... The authorities a are expecting 33000 vehicles between Moutiers and Albertville on Saturday so stand by for big queues, only 18000 coming up so not many problems unless the snow starts to build up on the road.
Sunday looks like a better day with sunny periods, but cooler than of late. After that there is just a queue of fronts charging towards us from across the Atlantic. Monday will be mainly showery, Tuesday will be snowy and high lift closing windy on current forecasts - beyond that more of the same, but the timing will change so difficult to forecast. I still suspect that we will get somewhere between 50 and 120cm over the next 10 days - not quite the exaggerated amounts touted by some apps.

Happy New Year Snowheads - I've been in EK the last week and it has way exceeded my expectations given all the doom and gloom.
I'm just wondering if anyone has skied down to Les Brevs in the last couple of days and what it was like? Thinking of taking the family down for lunch? But if the blue down is hell won't bother!
Thanks!

@Skikitten1972,
Do not bother. It becomes sheet ice around Tignes 1800. You could takes the chair down from there I suppose but very difficult skiing to reach.

Well it slowly getting colder and the roads are now white as we enter darkness, some bother on the Hill on the way up as people stopped in inconvenient places. We have probably had about 10cm of wet snow in the village which will be great when it has been bashed and higher up of course it will be much nicer. Looks like it is going to continue snowing on and off until midnight.
The weather forecast remains much as yesterday - the actual timings of the fronts and troughs will change though. But I am holding out on the forecast for at least a metre of snow this week. Tomorrow will be better in the morning with the odd glimpse of the sun but the clouds will fill in and snow will start again late in the evening. There will be a breeze and the freezing level has dropped down to 1200m so much colder than last week. Monday will be a white out with gales - head for the trees! Tuesday now looks windy and snowy, but there will be snow showers with sunny spells on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will also provide a mixed bag. The Avalanche Risk for tomorrow is 2 out of 5, this will then rise as the snow falls.
For those flying tomorrow it will be showery across the whole of the UK and there will be gusty winds close to the showers which will make for a bumpy ride - nothing to curtail flying though except at Leeds where there is a chance of hill fog early on. Over here will be a much nicer day for flying with the odd chance of patchy fog at Grenoble. The later flights will be bumpier as the wind picks up ahead of Monday's Gales.

@HeidiAmsterdam, thanks, she did ski on the last two days , carefully and we kept away from the main runs back to val claret. Overall a good week, some runs totally changed throughout the week. The last day with the little added snow was really nice just skiing the Tischot lift area and above mainly off piste and away from the busy piestes.
Thanks Tignes see you next year

Looking at the webcams it does not look like a big dump yet ..... interesting to hear the on site updates later.
Looks like the fronts are tailing off along the western and northern edge and not quite getting across to Val yet .... better hurry up as we are there next weekend.

20 - 30cm of new snow yesterday with very little wind. The pistes were interesting this morning with some being bashed after the snow had stopped, so were silky smooth, whilst others had been bashed earlier so were chopped up and a little variable
The off piste has improved vastly but you still have to be very careful as there are still lots of rocks about.
Hopefully tonight's forecast snow will further improve the conditions.

Just come in after a good day. If it had all been like this morning it would have been a great day. The weather started to close in around 2.30 and the light went completely flat. With yesterday's new snow some of the pistes were getting a bit lumpy by then so it was a case of skiing bumps that you couldn't see. Very tiring. But the morning was glorious. Sunshine and fresh snow. What could be better? Tonight we are supposed to get 30 more cm and looking at the sky right now I can believe it. It hasn't actually started yet but I'm pretty sure it will soon.

Basically today has already been summed up - a great morning followed by the sentinel of approaching doom as the light faded. I skied around the Grattalu first thing where the pistes were fantastic, then up to the Grand Motte (the cable car closed due to wind) and then Bellvarde down to La Daille for lunch. By mid afternoon some of the snow had been pushed off the hard base - but on piste that will soon be fixed but.....off will be very different.
The first flocons should arrive just as it gets dark tonight and the main band of snow about 2000 tonight. As ever amounts will vary across the resorts as dictated by the capricious weather elves but somewhere between 25 and 40cm between now and the same time tomorrow. Now I don't often shout on't net but Tomorrow the Avalache Risk will be 4 out of 5 above 2400m. The new snow has fallen/will fall on a generally hard base, so please take care. Amongst the first year seasonnaires there will undoubtedly be powder fever, wear a transceiver and be very careful folks ,
Tomorrow will be very windy and snowy through most of the day, there will be a lot of avalanche prevention to do - so it will be a slow start and we may well be limited to lifts below about 2700m by the wind. For Tuesday the various forecasts are disagreeing between snowy or just cloudy with less wind, but Wednesday seems to be going to be snowy with little chance of the sun. Wednesday will be showery again and the wind is set to return, and Thursday will be similar but a little warmer but the all important snow line will be virtually down in Les Brevieres. Beyond that it is all a bit of a guessing game......
