Poster: A snowHead

skimottaret, I appreciate all the good work that has been done, that the organisation punches above its weight in many ways already and only sought to identify more broadly the importance of recognition for the membership reading this thread.
You may well be right about the venting of pub chat, particularly at seasons end, but for certain issues, the more the better. I trust there has been no fobbing off on this thread.
Beanie1 will be disabling this thread shortly as there are now less than 24 hours for on-line voting so
Click on the link below - it takes you to the BASI voting log-in page and will prompt you to log in

Go to each resolution, scroll down and select your preffered candidate as the voting option (exercising your vote is the most important thing)
Confirm your choice and the voting is complete

skimottaret, I recognize that the organisation has done Trojan work and was not being critical but rather wanted to bring to the attention of the membership that BASI is not officially recognized as it should be and as many may have thought it was (myself included).
Pent up pub chat, particularly at the end of the season - perhaps, but hopefully no fobbing off in the thread.
Less than 24 hours to vote unless you will be in Hintertux so;

Stephen Burke,
this forum is monitored by a paid BASI employee who goes by beanie1 here.
BASI is rightly trying to become the recognised body in negotiations with the EU and has done good work with the UK government to obtain this recognition.
The recent explosion of debate is in my opinion a combination of lots of pent up pub chat and plenty of people who feel that they have been fobbed off by BASI in the past when making reasonable requests or presentations. |
Beanie1 will have a deletion job in a short while as this will soon be over
I realise that BASI has done a stirling job and been active in representation - I was bringing it to the attention of readers that the association is not officially recognised and that this is not helpful for the membership. I suspect many were not aware of this and that members should be individually vocal in making representations, in addition to the association. Plague your local MP if you live in the UK - or even just write a nice letter asking him/her to do something about it.
Pent up pub chat - nothing like it - but no fobbing off here. Debate is good and if there is steam to be let off it should be so as to get to the nub of issues on which affirmative action can be taken.
Less than 24 hours to go to vote on line. You can vote in Hintertux in person. To cast your vote on line

Apologies - the same post has gone up three times - not intentionally but because it did not seem to have gone up the first or second time I did it a third time - over zealous perhaps.

Alia Iacta Est - the online voting is now concluded. Thanks for your participation in the online debates and probing questions. If you will attend at the AGM in Hintertux, you may still exercise your vote in person or by proxy.
Thanks to you all and you will soon have a new Legal Director

stewart woodward, Stephen Burke, was elected. Well done Stephen.
Stephen Burke, I'm not a moderator of Snowheads, I just monitor what's said about BASI here. Threads like this generally aren't deleted from Snowheads unless something inappropriate is said, it will just drift down the list of older threads as people stop posting.
However, I think you may find that people who posted on here whilst you were campaigning, will come back to it once you're in the role to ask for updates!

beanie1,
Thank you for hosting this.
All other thank you for your contributions to this thread. Much debate has been elicited and there are many things to address in time. If you would like to reach me I now have a basi address which is stephenburke@basi.org.uk. Unless there are issues that you believe require open airing, it may be better to have an email directly. If there is something that you wish to have aired please let me know that you have started a thread (in case I miss it).
Thank you for all your support and I will do all that I can to encourage participation and the full airing of the views of the membership.
Best wishes,
Stephen
