Hard to fault that - though by then safety straps weren't being used on skis.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The old GSGs are much more detailed than the new ones and its interesting reading them again to understand how much most resorts have changed. Their maps are all drawn to scale and are way superior to the topos in the new guides. They allow an instant comparision of the extent of each ski area.
Advertising has I'm afraid been added at the expense of in depth analysis.

I still refer back to my 1994 copy which has the proper maps and does provide a good idea of the real scale of an area and puts into perspective marketing hype.

Have they actually changed the wording since 1985? It seems to change very little from year to year.

'British cash to get home' is interesting. I wouldn't advise that now.

laundryman, I would have agreed, but a few years ago we had a card cloning job in France and the extra English cash I had came in very useful, it was accepted by a couple of places in the resort we were in, until we could get new cards sorted out.
Colin B, I don't know about the wording but my 1985 copy cost £7.95

But surely a hipflask IS a necessity isn't it? And I'm constantly cursing that mine doesn't have a funnel: it's a good tip - I have to roll up a glossy bit of paper as a substitute, with consequent annoying leakage.
I'm surprised they didn't list sunglasses.
I agree about the old maps - they were much better.
