Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

My Bank Wants To Know If I'm Travelling Abroad

abc, My card getting cloned though had nothing to with calling in advance. Calling in advance worked on my two accounts, so I guess I will wait till the baddies catch up with me again...

Life is hassle. Good night!

You could always just mask your pin when you enter it....

Lorenzo, when my bank/credit card ring me, they have to go through a security password and pin check before the conversation goes any further. I think this is standard practice...

Do they answer YOUR questions or are you just giving them answers to theirs? If the former, then that is a good system and the way it should be. If the latter it might seem secure, until you think about it! It is usually the latter in my experience.

Lorenzo, isn't it more important whether you have called them or they you?

Yes, I said that in my earlier post. No problem if you call them, but these guys are calling us, and asking for security info. My CC company have done it several times.

Yes. I do. Was actually thinking it had been cloned when I had entered PIN in a hotel lobby that has CCTV [paranoid, moi!?]. It had been used/cloned in the US of A where I seem to recall all that matters is to sign...so chip and pin was NBG.

Lorenzo, it's a two-way thing. They give me a PIN code and I have to answer with two digits/characters from my password...

I always have to advise both abbey and RBS Mastercard when I'm travelling abroad. Both those accounts have been the subject of fraud (foreign) in the past so I think it's reasonable of the bank to ask me to do this, and as others have said two easy phone calls are better than the hassle of being ripped off again.

"Better" only if it works.

As I posted earlier, I used to call them to advice them such. But it didn't stop them from blocking my card when it's most inconvinient. Shocked

Now I don't advice them any more. And strangely enough, my card had never been blocked the last 2 years! rolling eyes

So, my own experience being, calling them in advance is pointless. You just have to get blocked once, make a fuss. Then they stop blocking your card. Cool

That is, until you get your card used by stranger again... Sad
