It was the BASI Mountain Safety course, one module (of seven) in the ISIA (Level 3) qualification. It covers an introduction to navigation, group leadership, mountain awareness, understanding snow stability, weather, avalanche searching and that kind of stuff. Along the way we got to do a bit of off-piste skiing as well.

navigation - I have a satnav and can read road signs.
group leadership - I am good with a piste map and planning lunch and drink stops
mountain awareness - Theyu are the tall things with snow on
understanding snow stability - My stabilty is always reduced when on snow..it is very slippy
weather - Duh, doesn't everybody have access to snow-forecast.com?
avalanche searching and that kind of stuff - never search for avalanches, they can be dangerous, it would be as daft as storm chasing
Along the way we got to do a bit of off-piste skiing as well - presuming this is not part of the course then it sounds like I am also qualified
