Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski writer "watched in horror" as "load of Poles or Russians staggered off" ...

Roger King, yes, that and many other typos snowHead

My personal fave...
Quote:

an executive load of Poles or Russians staggered off an executive bus
Were they executives (by any chance?) of an uncertain eastern european nation of staggerers?

Quote:

having slurped all the way to Zell am See in Salzburg region
So, was that the enormously long slurp on an executive bus from Moscow or did they get on a special executive slurping plane first before transferring to an executive bus complete with executive slurp facilities for out-of-control teenagers? Answers on a postcard to their executive Canadian office please.

Let's move on to the Good Ski Guide Ski Oscars 'Eco Awards' [scroll down the page] ...

We find that three airlines get the following environmental accolades (or are they trying to communicate something else?):

Quote:
BEST SKI AIRLINE: NONE RATED - BA was favourite for award for free ski carriage, friendly staff, but slated for cramped space – particularly poor on long-haul. Ryan and Easyjet well rated too for prices.

Did they mean to type "free tree carriage"? Useful to know that Ryan is rated for prices (Saver Private Ryan?)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Did they complain about the lift ticket prices and wave Rusky Express cards at you?

No, they had much better manners than your average Brit. NehNeh

Turning to the 'Product News' section of the Good Ski Guide, we find a headphone set honouring a disgraced US president:

Nixon make some noise

Quote:
In support of this new category for the brand, Nixon has secured world-class athletes and musicians to the headphone team.

I must admit I'd never thought of world-class athletes performing with headphones. Which ear-powered events are they involved in?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Chris Gill, founder editor of 'The Good Skiing Guide' (as you say, published by the Consumers Association) - whose expertise was combined with Adam Ruck in producing it - went on to produce 'Where to Ski'. Gill also hired me to write about ski equipment for the early editions of the GSG, so I admire him greatly as an editor (impartial comment).

Do you remember which year that was ? I got several free copies in the eighties. There were some good articles on equipment. A notable one was about boots and how Salomon made a huge marketing mistake by following other manufacturers instead of leading the pack.

First edition was 1985, I think, but that would need checking.
