heh, I am 'heavy' too!
My vitals (!) are:
194cm / 6'4'' tall
127Kg / 279lbs / 19st10oz
Usually skis are around the 180 to 185cm length and surprisingly do not struggle with stiffer ones as I have the, ahem, weight to give them a right pounding!

5' 10" and 125kg naked. All in, about 133kg light. Very strong gluteus, hips and quads (in the gym quite a bit - which introduces its own problems with calves and boots) so can echo that you can turn most lengths of ski, but I'd say poor hamstrings and goofed knees don't help matters. Definitely can't ski all day due to knees which do get inflamed over time with 170cm skis, but I do wonder how much of that is poor technique, poor boot fit (house boots as outgrew my own at the calf)...
...and jumps, which I probably shouldn't be doing at my weight and age.

Nice to see a retrospective on fat barsteward skiing. Last year I was 97kg and skiing 175 long fairly trad 80mm wide skis and to be honest it was a total knacker fest. I have since lost 13kg, moved UP to 186cm skis that are 122 wide and they feel like they are for beginners in comparison. For the first time in my life I have enjoyed - and sought out - bumps. Whether its the skis or the weight loss is debatable but I suspect its me more than the planks. Before I had an appreciation that I was in the back seat too much but now I can feel the subtle difference in balance caused by a small change in hand position forwards, changing the skis from twitchy to nailed. I can seriously feel that I am escaping the advanced intermediate plateau and moving to a higher level of skill. So... lose the beef, it costs nothing.
