So meniscus=cartilage, why didn't you just say so

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Sorry, my mistake. Should avoid jargon.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

My surgeon said the best way of finding out what was the problem was arthroscopy. To quote him he said that "whilst he was looking around if he found anything wrong he would tidy it with the laser".

saying if MRI shows a problem, he would do arthroscopy, if not he would do it anyhow to have a look, so may as well do it straight off!

Sounds like both surgeons trained at the same place

ok, the MRI results are in, in English, I've damaged the cartilage behind the knee cap and he has recommeneded pysio.
For those that can read strange languages it says:
There is an area of quite marked chondral damage present in the patellar articular cartilag. There is irregularity of the cartilage surface with some thickening in keeping with fissuring of the cartilage and degeneration. This is associated with quite focal bone marrow oedame in this area. This mainly affects the lateral articular facet with the trochlear groove cartilage looking well preserved. Normal patellar alignment with normal appearance to the retinaculae and no static MR evidence of maltracking. The remainder of the knee images normally. Specifically the medial tibiofemoral compartment and meniscus image normally.
Post surgical metallic artefact noted in distal femoral shaft
cheers,
Greg

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

kitenski, so other than a bit of cartilage damage you have a bit of metal in there

yeh the metal is the diamond tip of a drill ( I think) from when I decided to see how many parts I could make my femur become.......

kitenski,
it means that if you were a pro footballer they would tidy it up in an instant but if you were a horse, you'd be dogmeat...

kitenski, Did you know you had the bit of metal in you before the MRI scan? They normally ask you to declare such things on a form before the scan, since the intense magnetic field used can exert strong forces on lumps of metal!
