easiski,
Does the geography of the mountains often make Serre Chevailer coleder than L2A? When I was in Alpe D'Huez in Jan 04 it rained upto 2500m. I was telling everyone on the SCGB fourm and someone in SC said it was snowing in the village

johnboy, The weather conditions on one side of the Col du Lautaret are often radically different to those on the other, but not necessarily colder on the Serre Che side.

Mark Hunter, get yerself out here but not before next weekend. Woke up to beautifull sunshine but not worried anymore as the snow covered mountain looks great. The picture shows bottom of the Casse de Bouerf (left) and the top of L'Eychauda (right).

Is that a Massey Ferguson 165 in the bottom right hand corner? Actually I'm not sure if it's a 135 or 165.

eng_ch,
I am an amateur tractor geek. My cousin has a DVD called "Tractor Spotting" (It's much tamer than the film "Train spotting")

johnboy, i have not a clue! its not my garden but my neighbours!.
the other half went up behind the chalet to the first track, (approx 1500m) and reckons there is 30cm up there! good news!
|
|
|
|
|
|
snowangel., as I live at 1500 metres that explains why I said there had been 30 cms. I reckon on well over 50 cms fell abovr 2000m yesterday. Its just started snowing again. After today there is no more forcast 'till the end of next week.

I was at Puy Saint Vincent 1400m today and did some boarding. Nice powder not heavy at all. No lifts open of course so a lot of hiking up for not much down, but good fun none the less. Thomas (aged 14months) did his first sledge ride too!

petel, cool! we went to the lauteret again. amazing pow, in some places over knee deep for me thats approx 50-60cm. Had a good laugh. We do however need more. Some buddies made a kicker at the Mikey, but the bottom is very sparce cover. enough for tobogoning but not really for skiing.
BUT
its freezing cold out there and they are definately blowing snow at last! thank god!

Email from tourist office reports 15cm at 1400m, 60cm at 2100m, and 120cm at 2800. According to hauteurdeneige.com it has the best snow level in France.

Helen Beaumont, i wouldnt' be too quick to believe that. serre ratier last wednesday was green!!! i nearly choked on my wine when they told me that yesterday. they're blowing snow but it still looks like they wont open till the 20th ish. I really hope that your info is right and what i got told is wrong, but they guy who told me is one of the top huncho's at the ecole de ski in chantemerle, so i kind of trust him.
Was up monetier sunday, there isn't a massive coverage at base level, they are blowing mind so it may improve.
you'll also be very pleased to know your place no longer resembles a building site and actually looks very nice!
dandtd, yes i would book, and you can also book at la grotte in villeneuve and join us all for christmas dinner.
easiski, no lifts just lots of hiking!
back there one day this week for full on avo training inc burryng a person(well half) so we know what to feel for with our probes! had much fun on sunday doing avo training, its amazing how much quicker you get with each go.
