Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Euros abroad from Halifax card

@Tirol 164, it worked in April 2023. Nb it may only be while abroad (which is only time I have circumstances I may chose to use this facility).

Note the no charge for using for cash abroad and charge interest UNTIL YOU PAY BACK. So pay back same day, no interest!

Except you cannot stop the cash advance interest clock ticking if you pull cash out of a machine on the clarity since 2018.

Yep, you can and I do (when I can be bothered). You just transfer the money in a soon as the cash transaction is visible on the account.

I honestly don't see the purpose in using what is essentially a credit card as a debit card, when there are potential woozle traps involved. Like others, I load a different card, in my case FairFX, to get cash.

Halifax wont charge you FEES
They will charge you interest on cash withdrawals from day one....so if you pay back the cash withdrawal amount it will not stop the interest clock ticking

It doesnt matter what Halifax says or prints its what works in practise and the clarity is not the card to have in your tool box of cards anymore unless you want to pay the bank to use your own money.

Halifax often have generic T an C ,s for all credit cards.

I used the card since launch in 2009 for 9-11 weeks in resort each season plus worldwide until 2018 making cash withdrawals every week of those trips .
I also used to pre load it in the uk before leaving which they said you couldnt do .
Preloading would tide me over until I got into resort and set the laptop up as getting equipment setup and into powder was the priority if it was dumping.
I was in a cash location with one ATM

I really think the op should apply for a travel Barclaycard first then perhaps a chase debit card with a years 1% cashback as they are flogging a dead horse with the clarity card .
The real world use info on the claritycard is available and in the links provided above .

best cards from withdrawing cash abroad are prepay Revolut / Monzo type ones. close to real interest rates and no fees.

My other comment is 96pence isn't a great deal Very Happy I'm not sure i'd have gone to the effort of phoning up to get that reversed, but fair play.

Those other cards are options but UK bricks and mortar cards such as Barclaycard/Halifax have customer service .

Isnt Revolut a Ukraine outfit ?
When and if they put a hold on your account 2500 meters up a mountain you will need a backup card

If a card charges a few pence on one smaller transaction it will charge £100,s over a decade of travel .
The point isnt the amount a card charges its using/understanding the right tool that charges nothing overseas to use your hard earned.

The customer service from
Chase is waaaaay better than Halifax - you speak to a human almost instantly. And their app is fantastic.

With respect to customer service from Halifax got through quite quickly to a human, no press this number menu system put in my way and did a Section 75 claim with them for an accommodation booking who decided not to honour the in writing agreement about the booking made and if covid restrictions came back they would allow cancellation and refund deposit, and couldn't fault Halifax on the processing of that.

What people are saying NickyJ is you dont dump Halifax at all .
Time has moved on though you need more than one or two tools in the box .

You should get some up to date better cards for overseas spending.

Cards that actually are free for purchases and cash advances even making you a few quid .
Rather than costing you money for reasons no one can understand including customer service personal and are dead easy to get and use .
