Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

livetoski, beware that the first week in March this year is still half term so the prices are still going to be at February standards. Quite agree though that often it is one of the best weeks of the season!

Garfield, we have booked the flights to Salzburg, but not 100% sure about Obertauern yet, as not sure if the blues are blue enough, what's your opinion, are they gentle enough for a timid skier doing their first parallel turns?

Sorry for not replying sooner
If you can do a parallel turn you will be fine on the blues in Obertauern
Some of the red runs I think would be closer to blue in some other places
Sporthotel Marietta from what I can remember is close to the centre but off the main street and up a bit of a rise but nothing drastic and is still close to the slops. I cant think of any of the hotels you are likely to have much of a walk to the slopes.
There are two or three tree lined slops if the visibility is poor and you can get back down to the village fairly quickly if the weather changes and you need extra clothing or the opposite if things warm up.
Last year we had both extremes from whiteout to skiing with just ski trousers and a fleece top
