Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Quick (and might be a stupid) question - does the 4 or 6 week courses include the exam time within the 4 or 6 weeks, or were the exams afterwards? And of the 6 weeks you did, when did the tuition stop and how long did the exam period take?

I'm more interested in the Snowboarding ones but I assume the system works the same for boarding as skiing.

So over the 6 week course we had about 4.5 weeks of SIA delivered training.
Then Snowsports Academy take over to deliver the "exam period". This period is comprised of more training, mandatory evening lectures, examined runs, examined practice lessons and a theory exam. We had our examined ski runs on one of the last mornings of the course so right up until that time we were still receiving training.

It's a pretty similar time frame for the snowboarders if memory serves Smile

Snowboard Anwaerter is 10 days, although if you already have a ski anwaerter you can do a shorter 5 day course with WSSV (or at least you could when I did mine a few years ago).

To be honest, I'm not sure the course is for me as I don't really care about being an instructor, more would like to go on a longer type of course 4 or 6 weeks in order to improve my riding significantly. But I thought I'd ask as most places only do longer types of courses for instructor training, rather than "improvement camps". The SIA seems attractive because it really is quite great value for money given the duration, and it seems as though from Ori's review, you stay in 5* accommodation in a beautiful part of the world (and in Summer too which would be great as I'd have gone in winter for a couple of weeks as well haha).
