@jirac18, We're booked into the Hotel Biancaneve with Crystal next week and hope to cover as much ground as you seemed to.
Did you get much help or guidance from the Crystal reps? I'm contemplating rejoining SCGB as they have a rep there.
Looks like a bit of snow has fallen.
Cheers

@martyngb, We are also in Sauze next week, it's our 4th trip and never had a problem getting around the area, the biggest problem is if it's windy the link out of Sauze can get shut down. We skied to Montgenevre last time and got a shuttle back but this time we will get a shuttle both ways as it takes a few hours of chair lifts to get there.
We are flying from Bristol on Sunday, fingers crossed for the weather!

The Crystal rep was around our hotel and resort all week but we had no involvement with him by choice to be honest as we were more than happy with where we were going and the whole resort in general as three of us had been there before.
It’s actually a pretty easy ski area to navigate especially if you’re a competent skier.

Just had 2 and a half weeks in SdO; for the fourth year running.
W-c 27-01-20: pistes in great condition, helped by c.10cm snowfall on Tuesday. Montgenevre on Thursday of that week was awesome. Throughout the Via Lattea, the pistes were excellent; the off piste was good in parts (through the trees in SdO and San Sicario; off the Rocher de l'Aigle in Montgenevre, townside and down to Claviere, for example). The pisteurs had clearly spent quality time on keeping the resorts in great nick, and the cannons were working frequently in the sub-zero temperatures.
W-c 03-02-20: SdO has not recovered from the heat and rainfall that afflicted many Alpine resorts over the weekend and on Sunday 2nd Feb. All this week, the pistes were horribly icy and wind-stripped. The high lifts were shut on Monday and Tuesday due to high winds. The off-piste was non-existent. Montgenevre was slightly better but still largely trashed by the weekend's ridiculously warm temps followed by the rain (which even fell at Fraiteve; 2,600m).
I love the Italian hospitality, the food, the reasonable pricing and the laid-back approach the Italians generally take. Snow and conditions quality is - however - testing my patience. The lift system is crying out for investment (there's talk of a takeover by MGM or another international group for the V.L.; this will bring much-needed upgrades over a period of time). It is, as a skiing system, being left behind by the other European countries.
A great shame, 'cos it's a great place to be.

Had a 32 hour return from Sauze on Sunday via Gatwick so late in posting a review.
Agree with some of Snovillian's comments, first time in Italy for any length of time and felt the welcome, service etc was so much better then France.
The first two days were restrictive, Tuesday particularly but at least we got out. Wednesday was very tricky after the winds, very blown and messy, the link back to Sauze was treacherous to say the least. Lots of injuries reported.
Very cold Wednesday and Thursday so much snow making in evidence
Went to Montgenevre on Friday and the snow was much much better, they had had a good dump on Tuesday and Wednesday whilst Sauze had only had 2-5cm up high.
The village is very good if a touch anglicised with plenty of bars restaurants etc. Agree that the lifts could do with updating but only found a couple of bottle necks. Albeit on Monday and Tuesday we only had 3 open. Busy on Saturday when lots of people visit for the day but with the whole area to access you could find empty pistes.
I would go back to the area although would study the forecast a little harder....

Hi all,
Just jumping on this. We are off to Bardonecchia at the start of March and we plan on a day in Sauze. (It's also a little recce ahead of my stag next year!)
We have a hire car so driving up. Is there any free parking to be had at all? Failing that, what is the best lift to aim for to park at and for access? Clotes, Sportinia or Jouvenceaux? We will more than likely eat up on the mountain during the day so any recommendations?
Any particular highlights we should look to do in a day?

@Fridge03, Hi
There are car parks at the bottom of the Sportina lift (no idea on cost) and you ski back to them or you can park in town on one of the roads and catch one of the buses. Sportina and Jouvenceaux get you highest with Sportina having a next door lift to the bowl.
runs 2000 and 2002 off on the far left of the resort are pretty and with some interesting runs off of. There is a chair off of 2000 that opens up a whole new area but only opened on the weekend so unsure if that will be the same in March. Some lovely long blacks and reds there.
At the top of the Sportina lift there are 4 restaurants and bars, at the mid point of the Jouven... there is a nice looking venue and a few others dotted around the slopes.
Judging by the numbers in resort an ideal group location!
Have fun

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

No parking, no non permit traffic in Sauze at all.
Best bet park at Jouvenceaux. That lift takes you pretty much straight up to Sportinia and plus side is the reds back down at the end of the day to your car are excellent.

Thanks for the advice all! Looking forward to having a ski in the area. Did Monty a few years ago but never made it over to Italy.

@addo1, The cheapest we found was La Grotta, next to the lift pass office. 2.5 before 7pm a pint. Very much British HQ, the SCGB meet there.
We watched the rugby in Queens which was good, the Miravallino had live music on Monday and the Crystal Karaoke on Wednesday.
Immediately post the slopes we stopped at the Bar Scacco Matto, just across the sledging field from the bottom of Clotes
Didn't venture out much after 11 so not much use for late night action.
Have fun
