Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Thanks for all the suggestions. In the end we have booked an old ruin (Hopefully a done up barn
) just outside Aosta at Saint Christophe / chef - Lieu. Mainly as this side of the valley faces South so has a bit of warmth in it.
Dates Booked are Saturday 2nd Feb to Saturday 27th April 2019
Interesting this area is covered by the Allo Nuit night service which is in essence like a ring and ride bus and runs all evening till 6am. A ride from the center of Aosta to Saint Christophe is 5 euros, Which given the saving of not paying for an apartment in the center of town (Of which most have no parking) is a good trade off IMHO
Looking at the Allo Nuit service it covers 99% of the small communes around Aosta.

@snowbum48
, I broke my ankle (of all things) on the 1st of January 2019, which meant i was in a cast and then soft boot until June 2019!
Needless to say the whole thing pissed me off as ive done 30++ years of living and not so much as needed a denstist let alone A and E !
On the plus side i had planned it all out.
Aosta is great if you enjoy getting into the local scene, be good for off piste and touring Feb / March / April mainly as there is such a choice of high and low mountains.
Worth noting the Aosta ski pass that includes Zermatt if you want it to (Ski from Cervinia) also includes Verbier
If you want to bum and easily ski you may be better at one of the big resorts - Val D / 3 V etc. Depends what your after.
