Pretty much the same conditions London was operating under. Remember the Zil lanes and the constant warnings to avoid public transport.

@Lilledonmarco, thank you! I can see why your country, and others, told them to get stuffed!
Are these demands the same/similar to the Summer Olympics? Everyone fights to be awarded these. London was overjoyed when we got them. Volunteers, legacy, fab opening ceremony, etc - most people were really happy about it. (OK not the French .) I couldn't see why the Winter Olympics were so different.

The Pharonic scale of Sochi for what, let's face it, gets far less interest, coverage and visitors versus the Summer event?

Coke products? Were they expecting the French swimming team or something?

If the FIS pulled their support and banned (?) or dissuaded their athletes from attending on humanitarian grounds alone it woul please me immensely if nobody went and supported these games, and they were a flop. I for one won't be watching. Madness...... |
Rather than wanting other people to boycott the games, wouldn't it be better/more consistent for us all to boycott Chinese manufactured goods?

@henzerani, Or just hold the games in Morzine and then you get all the alpine scenery and some fabulous grass slopes.

That picture reminds me of Kitzbuehl 1991 except Kitzbeuhl was probably worse - pure slush and to the side of the pistes grass . I never recalled how bad it was really was until a couple of years ago a mate showed me a picture he took when we were there.
