I'm with @foxtrotzulu, on this the light is less diffuse below the treeline and though the definition may not be perfect it is definitely generally easier than in open spaces above the treeline or worse still in a bowl where the light is reflected from every direction.

yes - on a tree lined run, it sometimes makes a noticeable difference (for me) if I ski at the edge near the trees versus in the middle

I also find this, Val D'Isere had the most persistent flat light from the limited number of resorts I have been to so far and with the lack of any trees up high it was noticeably worse.
(But the skiing was great, so I went and got a new goggle so I could carry on enjoying it as much as possible).

I think there are still quite a number of lifts in tignes that are neither modern nor fast (and lacking in capacity)! Some investment needed, IMHO. Great skiing though
