In todays world of health and safety I find it bizarre that the jumping bit is actually allowed. Fair enough with the slalom stuff, but on the jumping bit the jumps are pretty big and some of the competitors are complete novices! As in never skied in their life before! All up for watching more ski related stuff on TV, but some of this is bordering on reckless. Mate of mine broke his back when he was a beginner doing a jump, ego/bravo got the better of him (as it has done to a lot of us at one time or another) but this time the consequences were v serious, and it wasn't a big jump. Just hope there are no serious accidents on this. Is seeing minor celebs in knee braces/plaster/whatever likely to encourage more people to go skiing or not?

TBH, I think Alex Brooker is the better presenter on the show but then I'm a big fan of The Last Leg too

That ain't a cast just a standard Donjoy style or tho brace. Tweaked or torn a ligament. Presumably could happen any day dancing as well. Had a mate broke his ankle moshing to Nirvana once.

Not necessarily - beginners especially fall weirdly all the time and I read somewhere that women might be more predisposed to the backward twisting slow falls that trash knees.

Indeed, I think we mostly know that it's the slow falls that damage the knees as a general rule. The comment was more related to the sensational reporting by the media of the injury.

Just back from kuhtai. Saw them all outside our hotel learning snowboarding on Friday. Classic line from one of the inghams staff to Louis shpensh
'How you finding it Louis?'
'Good fun but my bum's in agony'
'Im sure you're well used to that'
Followed by some laughter on both parts.

Given all the injuries - including the ones before series 2 even started, I'm surprised it's returning.
Louis Spence and Joey Essex, oh dear.

My claim to fame!!!
My snowboard instructor who took the BASI Level 1 course in October is teaching the celebs to snowboard on a banked slalom course. Nice bit of advertising for his company snowboard coach.

looks a lot like the brace I had to wear following tibial plateau fracture (you don't get put in a cast for that). it was reported she'd had an operation which sounds similar to me
