@telford_mike, no jealously seeing you there at all!

After yesterday’s glorious sunshine and great snow we thought we'd try again this morning. It wasn’t nearly as good, with flat light caused by the Sahara dust. No sunshine meant hard pistes with icy patches. Still better than staying at home though, even if the highlight of the morning was coffee at Männlichen.

Looks lovely there now the crowds have gone. Just wish we could get over there! I feel a few weeks coming on next year. Just have to persuade the O/H.

The Kandahar Ski Club has just posted on its Facebook page some old cine footage (probably from the early 1950s they say) that shows Sir Arnold Lunn in Mürren, including skiing for a few seconds (doing a Telemark turn!) then some footage of the old BLM train. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=757719265151813

Great video, but I remain glad that I'm skiing in the present day!

@DixieDean, yes, about 15cm so far. It's not cold - temps around zero or just above. Very few people around.

@telford_mike It looks great. So wish I was there. Sadly, I think there is just about no chance of making there this spring.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

It snowed all night, and all day. I cleared about 15 inches of snow from our terrace this morning, and I'll soon need to do it again. 48 hours ago there was no snow at all here.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

We've had 5 days of snow. At last the sun's come out. It's been the most beautiful day.
No queues anywhere.
Absolutely superb day.

It was crazy busy over the weekend - as well as the usual Swiss and French skiers it seems that half of Poland is here to escape their lockdown which begins today. Anyhow, today it was back to business as usual, with very quiet pistes and a complete absence of queues. The weather’s beautiful.

Another belter. It's warming up - some pistes quite soft this afternoon.
Still great skiing all the way back to the village.

@telford_mike, how’s the snow now? Thinking of heading down for a day or two with my son if it’s still good conditions- the weather forecast looks good

Really hot today - about +16C in the village and +20 in the valley. It’s hard to believe it’s still March. The steamers are being spruced up for the summer season.

After planning approval has been granted in early summer 2021, the first preparatory work due to COVID cannot begin until spring 2022. The installation of three material ropeways from Stechelberg to Mürren and via Birg to the Schilthorn is planned. The entire delivery and removal of the materials to be disposed of should be carried out with these material ropeways. The first construction work in Mürren and on Birg is scheduled to begin in autumn 2022.

Does this mean that there will be a new Muerren Birg cableway and there will no longer be the wonderful "swing" as you go over the first pylon on the way up (or, indeed, the only pylon). A big disappointment as it was always entertaining looking at people's faces....

Summer pass is available, CHF369 if you have a half price card or a season pass for the winter. Lasts until the end of November. Includes unlimited trips to the Jungfraujoch. We went there loads even on bad days last summer just for the chocolate shop. Bargain.
I see on the news this morning the Jungfrau Railway posted their first ever loss in FY2020. I hope business is able to pick up soon...

Männlichen is closing this weekend. It’s a pity, as it’s still perfect on-piste.
We're still waiting to see whether the Jungfraubahn will extend the season at Scheidegg by a week. Current scheduled closure is the 18th.

Here's a few seconds video that was posted by the DHO of a wolf being seen at the top of Männlichen above Wengen, apparently it occurred just over a week ago.
Winter continues in Wengen with the ski season on Kleine Scheidegg extended to 25th April what a shame so many people missed out on one of the best seasons we have had in a long while
Fingers crosed the Snow Gods are as kind next season

Great skiing in the sunshine today. 4 lifts open at Scheidegg - Arven, Eigernordwand, Wixi and Lauberhorn.
Interesting seeing the wolf video and all the other lovely photos!
@telford_mike how many more days skiing have you got now and how much is left open? There still seems to be plenty of snow around further up. Are you continuing to live there for the foreseeable future?
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@DixieDean, ski area remains open until 25th April, but with so few people around it'll just be a few lifts at Scheidegg. There's loads of snow - we skied back to the village yesterday with no problems at all. Yes, apart from a swift visit to the U.K. next month to see the kids, we're staying here for the foreseeable.
The conditions are sensational I have never skied anywhere at this time of the year with conditions that resemble mid January ,temperature are well below zero on the mountain, today Honeg was reopened and resort runs to Grindelwald and Wengen are open. We have 50km of pistes open with nobody here
