Around 1:30 a pisteur came out and rubbed offf 'glacier ferme' off a sign right in front of me, so I guess it opened in the afternoon. Not snowing over here (yet!)

Interesting that they should run them in advance of a big dump. What do you think the thinking behind this is, does it provide protection for the underlying snow from rain, the new snow adhere better when it falls, or is it just on auto?

Has la plagne been closed at all with all this crazy snow? We're flying into grenoble tomorrow and going to la plagne, do you know if the busses have trouble when it snows that much? I'm starting to get worried now!

Mouth, ntfarmer, Boredsurfing, I am on the mend now so hope to catch up with you all soon. Yes you will need chains or water wings, it cannot make its mind up weather to rain or snow. But i did have 15cm plus of the white stuff this morning on the grass down the valley and it is still there tonight as it is starting to get colder again.

cockofthenorth, Do you know the route down from the top of the Bijolin lift towards Les Cloches that goes into the gully with the little watefalls all the way through the forest. If you do, do you have any idea what the snow cover is like over there now. Can be really fun with good snow cover.
