Thanks for sending the ad to me. What an extradinary document! I note a number of internal inconsistencies with it, but I couldn't possibly examine them before a family audience, other than to wonder how a non-drinking person could be other than not too drunk to walk Ski Mistress home safely.
But getting back to DG. Wouldn't it be better to drop this wimpy 'let's be friends' stuff, and just advertise for a girl-friend for Wengen.

DGO. I think we're getting a bit bogged down here. Have I mentioned that I had a Swiss girlfriend back in the 70s? There could be possibilities here.
I met her in Aviemore, where she was a fellow ski instructor and we had enormous fun - I used to catch the overnight sleeper up from London every weekend and she'd meet me in the mountains at Newtonmore station. Very romantic.
After the winter she came down to London and lived with me but broke my heart when she later left me for a more dominant man. I put two and two together. Swiss families can be very patriarchal and her own father had certainly ruled in her family.
What am I getting at? Well.....Swiss girls can be fun, and you might find one who'd happily spend a week in Wengen with an Englishman! Where do you advertise? I haven't a clue. There must be English language websites in Switzerland, though maybe not as crazy as snowHeads.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

What a great reserve plan. Perhaps Switzerland have their own version of "Dating Direct", DG.

David Goldsmith, I have considered that option, I have an English friend who works in Wengen and has a Swiss wife
Over the years I have skied with British, Finnish, Swedish, German, American, French and Irish girls that I can remember but usually just for an odd day or two, what I'd like is to be able to predict that this would be for a week or two rather than just a day at a time.

|

...and obviously one wants to avoid a contractual arrangement.

maybe i could suggest advertising here:

as the site says:

Dan, well it was an idea, however there appear to be just 3 ladies in Switzerland on that site under 50 none of whom appear in the sporting partner catagory

maybe you could set up a stall at the ski shows, probably more likely to find a like minded individual there?

D G Orf, Well I think you should take it up with the mods. It's all their fault for banning the Russian ladies. I bet they excelled at all the sliding sports.
|
|
|
|
|

PG, I'm sure they had something to reccomend them, however to be fair the Russian ladies have not been banned mearly the link to their commercial site

One more suggestion - I'm running out of ideas. Drop a line to Heidi Reisz at:
Switzerland Tourism
Swiss Centre
Swiss Court
London

I think her title is 'Wintersports Product Manager'. You'd need to check, on 020 7292 1550.
She's dealt with wintersports promotion for years, she married an Englishman, and she really likes helping Brits go skiing. I'm sure she'd have an idea or two, DGO, and she'd probably be fascinated to see snowHeads.

D G Orf, do you holiday on your own all the time? I only ask as there seems to be little socialising in your holiday itinery, other than a quick jar at the DHO hut.

marc gledhill, not always, but generally, my friends spend all their money on computer games and fashionable clothing so they cannot afford to go skiing, I on the other hand rarely buy computer games and never could be thought of as a slave to fashion so can afford to go skiing, I do however have several friends in and arround the resort who I go and visit whilst I'm there

DGO, you and your mother have my very best wishes as well.
Things can look very dark in the immediate aftermath of an event like this, but every now and then, one gets lucky. When my mother was 77 y.o. she had a major stroke. Things looked very bad for several days, but she has now passed her 90th birthday and shows almost no residual damage.
Again, good luck!
Tom / PM
PS - Quickly get a second opinion should some hotshot want to perform any sort of major procedure on her (eg, carotid endarterectomy).
