Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Probably getting to the point that anyone who can be bothered to look at google maps can get it now so I reckon BobinCH gets the win.

It's the Strahlhorn (4190m). I've not skied it but I've been up it in summer and it would be more fun on skis!

Apple auto-corrected to “comical” but does it more respectfully deserve reference as “Cosmiques”?

@BobinCH, More of a climber in those days and it was Summer with no planks. Bagged it as part of the "Spaghetti Traverse", 10 x 4,000m peaks in a week. Not sure the knees would be up to it these days.

When I was 20 and getting into alpine climbing it was definitely on my list. Then I learned a few lessons, got some responsibilities and became a whole lot less ambitious!

Alright, my turn
Here something I have skied. Accessible from a well known ski area but requires a certain amount of commitment to get to and it doesn't come into condition too often. The peak in the background of the first pic is quite a famous one and probably the best clue to working out where this line is.

Rope assisted entry. Probably not 100% necessary but it was a little slick and if you slipped here you would "arrive at ze bottom" as a guide once said

P1000821 by Ian Scorah, on Flickr

Into the line. Nice steepness and spring snow turning to slush by the bottom. It's almost 1500m of couloir so not many pics exist of the full line!

Correct! You do get around...

The face in the picture is the B52 variant. The main North Face is just visible through the gap on the right of the photo

@BobinCH, I think I recognised Mt Fort from your photos Laughing Although I have skied Super Bowl once which I think is under that face?

No points for Pierre but his presence is a clue for the general area

Yep that photo was taken from the top of the Jacobs ladder bootpack. This is the view into the bowl and across to the traverse on the sunny face which takes you over into the lower section of Catwalk and out the left hand side of the dam

Assume your photo is somewhere in La Grave although you boys do wander so who knows...

I think it may be the way down to St Christoph but from Les Deux Alpes, joining the way from La Grave (I can't remember the name - need to look it up).

Edit: no, that was the Rama couloir (already guessed) I was thinking of, so it must be one of the more direct descents into the Vallon du Diable from La Grave, but again I don't know the names, so need to look it up.

@BobinCH Lovely to be reminded of the Jacob's Ladder run - very good photo. Hope to be there next January (I just booked my guide and hotel).
