Heading to St Martin this weekend. Hopefully there will still be some snow worth skiing. Is the Gran Couloir in skiable condition?

@vaughan, the Grand Couloir is certainly skiable, as long as you like big, chopped-off bumps... And as above the others couloirs are all alright too, though increasing firm (still chalky in the Curé) on Weds, and probably not a great idea to blow it at the moment as you will certainyl go a long way..!

Trapped in Les Menuires today. Links to VT and Meribel closed because of the wind. Pistes in remarkably good condition. Light snowfall most of the day. Lift queues 15 minutes sometimes. Top Masses gondola out of action till Friday.

Skied Emile Allais yesterday afternoon, then traversed across the bottom of Grand Couloir and further around behind Rocher de l’Hombre. Snow was excellent. BIG queues in Meribel!

@polo99, Chaudanne. A lot of lifts up top were shut I think due to wind, but it's also the last week of French half term.

Fantastic conditions today after yesterday’s storm. Skied the telepherique couloir then headed to Courchevel Moriond (1650) to play on blues and reds, dropping into some off piste along the way. Stopped for a beer on a terrace at the St Martin 2 lift before finishing off the day with a run down Jerusalem then back down to St Martin. More snow forecast for Thursday.

Hi PBJ. I am an instructor for Parallel Lines ski school in Meribel. Happy to see if I can help with some off piste next week. Drop me a PM if you like. Cheers, Mike.
Independent reviews available if you search "parallel lines meribel" on Google or Facebook.

@PBJ, Hey - sorry for slow reply - currently in the deepest darkest Maurienne...
My usual recommendations are busy - but you won't go wrong with Mike/@snowrider or the 'orange preserve' gang.

How do the wind speeds look for tomorrow and Monday? Will they be strong enough to close the links?

A wild wild day today! Only the brave were out, but the brave were rewarded with some mighty fine powder laps...

Indeed ... light to moderate snow most of the day and gales after lunch which closed most of the links.
Lots stuck in les Menuires and buses laid on to bring them back ... Saulire cable car was running half hourly slots and the last load was escorted by Pisteurs down to Meribel. Conditions at top atrocious.
See a few patches of blue sky now
Need to plan where the powder has been blown for tomorrow.

In St Martin for the week. Lovely day today, skiing pistes with the kids. Snow is mostly nice up high, but slushy lower down in the afternoon today, with the higher temperatures.
Looks like a return to colder, snowier weather for the next 3 days, with more wind too. Looks like Thursday might be challenging!

How has the season been so far for snow in Val thorens? We are headed there first week of April. We were there the same week last year in the awesome 2017/18 season and it was incredible.
I’m obviously not expecting A repeat because last year was unusually good I’m sure, but in general how is this season panning out does anyone have an opinion?
3 weeks to go and I’m getting excited!

For me, this season has been better than last year. January was fab, regular dumps of snow and constant cold temps-unlike last year when there was a real occillation. The warm phase in Feb has had an impact on depth, but as far as I can tell, nothing is closed for lack of snow. Off piste conditions are variable at the moment. Who knows what it’ll be like in 3 weeks time...

That’s interesting Perry - thanks. We are all piste skiers and as you say, no prediction what it’ll be like in 3 weeks.
Just hoping for enough of a base really that even with the sunny spell forecast in the next weeks it won’t all melt!

There will be plenty for piste skiers, don’t panic. Huge dump also forecast over the next 48 hours too .

Great day ... about 10cm of fresh snow and continued till mid morning when cloud broke and some sunny spells.
Opened the saulire ridge which was interesting ! Grand couloir in good shape once past the moguls at the top.
Then lots of OP with snowrider in Spot and off tougnete ridges and cote brune
Finished off with Emile Allais and Meribel couloir to come home.
Started snowing now ... legs tired
