@boredsurfin, still lightly snowing up in Belle Plagne as it has been most of the day. Finger’s crossed the freezing level ends up lower than forecast although looks a bit wet on the Monty webcams just now. Snow Forecast has a 13cm of snow tonight at 2000m and another 20cm tomorrow night.

Anyone else had a credit back from last year's ski pass? I was wondering why?
I skid 10 days over new year last year (8 day pass plus 2x1day) and got a €66 credit on my LaPlagne/Yuge account this year. Also know of a couple of others who have had the same, but don't know why.
Ain't complaining however - 1 day in the whole of Paradiski works out only marginally more than an hour at the Hemel snow dome!

@geoffers, Are you sure this wasn't the Edenski refund for the points you might have accumulated? As Edenski has closed down they did a refund on the La Plagne website for ski passes, I got one as well.

Hi all - we’re off to La Plagne (Villages) in February. Wondering if you guys had any recommendations for good value restaurants/self service restaurants for lunch? Or any nice picturesque stops for morning coffee?
We’re a family group so burgers/soup/pasta end of the menu goes down well with the teenagers! We’ll be skiing all over La Plagne, but not Les Arcs.
Thank you!

@chaletgirl002, well just across the Ecartee piste from Plagne Villages in Plagne Soleil is Le Monica’s. In our opinion the best value for money, welcoming, family run restaurant in the whole of La Plagne. We use it most days for lunch when we are there. The plat du jour never fails to impress and the host is…I’ll let you find out for yourselves

Still snowing quite steadily at 2,000m. Was a bit ‘wet’ snow when we went out for dinner but now a bit colder/dryer snow. Would guess about 3-4 inches has fallen since the lifts closed for the day. Notices gone out saying keep off the pistes prior to opening tomorrow as avalanche securing operations will be taking place, so clearly a decent snow fall expected this evening. More of the same forecast tomorrow as well.

@chaletgirl002, Teenagers in tow? Go to Croque Neige in Plagne Centre or Mama's Kitchen also in Plagne Centre. Le Bonnet in Bellecote also a winner with teenagers - but don't get trapped in Bellecote by the lift queues between 2.00 and 2.30.

@chaletgirl002, I agree with @boredsurfin, on Croque Neige, a regular haunt of ours with kids, particularly as it's right by the Oxygene ski school collection/drop off point. If you fancy a treat then Le Dou du Praz is a guilty pleasure but booking often essential at peak times.

As above : love Mamas Kitchen (delicious greek style fastfood), le dou du Praz is wonderful (not a self, more a delicious moment lost in time and place). Le roc des Blanchets and les inversens both have self service as well as table service and offer both good food.

Does anyone know if you can top up / buy a Coolski pass online? I bought one yesterday in the lift pass office (for one day) and my son needs it again for tomorrow for his lesson. When I bought in the lift pass office the lady behind the counter said I could just top it up online. However I can’t see anywhere online for the coolski option?

Planning to have a nice dinner out one night with friends. Ideally, something different to the usual fondue/raclette/tartiflette local dishes, and not Michelin-level prices, but happy to spend a bit more if you think it's worth it. I love a good onglet, if that helps. Can anyone recommend somewhere, please?
Staying at UCPA in Plagne Centre. Not sure how easy it is to get to/from other areas in the evening.

Polite request but any chance this thread can stay on track with weather and snow conditions and use Piste and Resort reviews for the other stuff.

@jirac18, sorry! I came to this thread via another saying to post here for La Plagne-related queries (can't remember which one) and mistakenly thought it was a general one too.
Do we have dedicated resort threads? (Can't find any official looking ones) If not, is it worth setting up?

I think this thread has always been a general thread for all things La Plagne, despite its location on the forums under weather updates…

All the "weather" resort threads are the same i.e., used as a q&a aswell as weather.

Here's the La Plagne weather report , lovely and sunny a few cm's of fresh snow overnight, all the major areas horrendously busy - Face du 1800 all icy and scraped - as busy as Paris week at February half term!
Weather forecast is here .. https://meteofrance.com/meteo-montagne/la-plagne-2000-m/731502

@boredsurfin, Highly accurate! Never seen it so busy, has really limited what we can do before needing to pick up the kids from ski school. Been a great week for snow though - up here at Belle Plagne we must have had about 70cm’s in total since we got here on Saturday.

@boredsurfin, I don’t blame them, it was doubly bad this morning with late opening of higher lifts. I dream of a day when I have that luxury of being here for a full season! Roll on retirement

@boredsurfin, I’m back for a long weekend 1-5 February before the hoards come (with friends, not family) so looking forward to that. Trying to decide whether to go New Year or Easter next year with the kids. Being restricted to school holidays is not good.

We retired a few years ago and also thought we’d be here all season . The reality though is that without work to get in the way we spend a lot of time doing stuff we like at home which rather militates against a whole season here. Plus - everything aches after 10 days of skiing …..

Main problem with Easter next year is school hols for us don’t start until 12th April which just feels very late for a ski holiday!

@boulevardier, Aches, oh yes...
@chopkins13, Have to say if snow is good across the Alps the New Year week is tolerable. This year seems exceptional - even to the extent that every restaurant in Montalbert is fully booked this evening! (Although there is one restaurant less than previous years.)
Apparently week 3 January is quietist week of the season in La Plagne

As mentioned above, pida this morning (plan d'intervention déclenchement avalanche) meant that the lifts in Bellecôte opened approximately half an hour later. I was still waiting for a client up in Belle Plagne so I missed the big queue. Truly great snow conditions though. My friends car had to be pushed into the powdered parking spot in Belle Plagne at 8.30am, the childrens snow gardens needed every instructor to get the garden ready from 8.40-9.am. I spent lunchtime up at Lainés on the Arpette side and the afternoon around Blanchets/Carella with a Tunnel to finish the day. Excellent snow wherever I passed, besides for the quartz wall from Belle Plagne into Bellecôte obviously, as that is always difficult due to the huge amount of skiers passing through. Inversens and the glacier weren't open all day, 15.30-16.45 up at Roche de Mio was incredibly calm, not bumpy at all and very enjoyable. The biggest thing of today was my partner taking a chairlift in the area over lunchtime and witnessing a person being taken by an avalanche, calling ski patrol, skiing over with them and finding the person alive. His report here (in French), but worth reading/sharing.
