Just finished a fantastic week, staying in montchavin, considering no new snow all week the conditions are great, few scratchy places but nothing scared me, snow forecast for the coming week have a great time anyone lucky enough to be coming out

Yes the aiguille rouge was open this week although but if a queue to get the the very top, skied all the way Down to vilaroger and it was great

winterstickboarder,i presume you are referring to the La Plagne glacier.
If you are coming all the way over from Les Arcs, then the simple answer is "No" - don't bother.
The only reason these days for going up to the glacier in La Plagne is for the view, and maybe the possibility of doing the challenging North Face off-piste run, or the rarely open Rochu and Bellecote black runs.
My advice for those coming over from Les Arcs is don't take Salla chair into the La Plagne "bowl",but head over to the Crozat chair and on up to Roche de Mio via the Inversens lift. From there you can ski down to the excellent Champagny sector (much larger then the piste map would suggest) without having to brave the Bellecote crowds.

+1 just back from a week staying in Champagny and on piste conditions were fantastic. The top up of snow coming over the next few day and the cold weather to follow after that, should ensure those coming for half term week have a great time.

Strange, as the bubble also serves as transport between BP and Bellecote. They'd have to replace that aspect with shuttle buses.

@eblunt, yes it would be a terrible decision if the bubble no longer ran between Bellecote and Belle Plagne, it’s a great facility to have for skiers and non-skiers alike, especially running so late too.

@Maersk, but if the glacier bubble started from near col de forcle then they surely wouldn’t ‘double up’ and still have the roche di mio bubble from bellecote/belle plagne also??

Yes possibly. It might be an extra mid station at the top of Col de Forcle, but still with it stopping at BP as well. It's difficult to work out exactly what they mean. The extra mid station at CDF would take the pressure off Bellecote as the main route to get to the RDM, as they would be able to go via Funiplagne and piste petite rochette.
Although reading it again, it suggests that the new Telecabine wouldn't pass through BP , so maybe not at crossed purposes, it seems to imply the building costs of trying to build in amongst the buildings at BP would be much higher.
To be honest, I've never taken the eggs at BP going up in 10 years, but I do use it a lot coming to and from Bellecote in the evening

Start of a lovely week with VIP Ski in Plagne Centre. Monday was a good day to begin after 51 weeks off the slopes - a little bit of sun to start with, some familiarisation on the pistes above Plagne Centre, Aime 2000 and then down to La Roche for lunch.
Always concerned as a snowboarder that a blue down to the base of the mountain might be a winding track or, worse still, flat. Pleased to report that Cornegidouille was neither of these hazards and was very happy to go down it a second time. Made for some nice gentle runs, some good pictures and a very happy start to the week.
Let’s see what happens with the weather tonight and how things change tomorrow!

@PhilLea, you may be the first person in history to complement the Cornegidouille blue down to La Roche!!
It is normally an icy scraped bottle neck full of people out of control that makes for an uncomfortable trip for all but the most confident skiers!

And that’s what I was worried about... but no complaints today. Very quiet on the slope, perhaps that helped. And there’s obviously a shortage of fluffy white stuff but perfectly adequate and the friendly staff and delicious pizza at lunch were worth it!

I agree, Cornegidouille was fine today! The two reds down to Roche were great - better than on most previous trips. The Coches red was open for once and nice. Hope the big dump due tomorrow doesn’t delay lift openings...

Favourite ever run was down the red into La Roche after a big dump last year. We were the first people down so made fresh tracks in beautiful powder. We literally just surfed down. We all finished with big grins on our faces! Still talked about it on our trip this year.

@Handy Turnip, they’re on my LaPlagne bucket list but as a very average skier I’ve always found myself waiting for the right conditions! We usually stay in Belle Plagne and whenever there’s been an overnight dump we always seem to head the other way to the forests above Montchavin. To be corrected next year perhaps!

@chopkins13, I've done those runs lots of times as we've stayed in La Roche a few times. The Emile Alliais run is my preference - it can get a bit icy in places if the conditions aren't good, but with the right conditions it's great. And it's always quiet!!

Anyone in resort to report on current weather conditions? Doesn't look like it's snowing particularly hard at the moment on the webcams.

One or two lifts starting up. Becoin is moving, Colorado not so much. Visibility in Plagne Centre seems ok and the webcams show about 400m

A friend of mine who's chalet hosting in Plagne Soleil has just sent a photo of falling snow and fresh snow lying on their balcony
We got back Sunday after a week's skiing. Despite the lack of recent fresh snow, the pistes were holding up very well. I only encountered a couple of bare/icy patches, one on the way back from the Vanoise Express above Lac Noir bubble and a surprising patch on Ramy just off the top of the Aollets drag.
On Wednesday, I made it all the way to Arc 1950, having never been further than the Derby chairlift before.

After a late start, we stayed relatively low today and it was ok. Glad to have ventured out: was considering that it might be a duvet day so it felt like a bonus.

How's it looking out there? According to the forecasts, it's snow falling to about 2000m and rain below (increasing to 2400m by tonight). Just wondered how the reality is looking?

One of those slides had crossed the piste on Verdons. We had to climb over the debris. There were tracks right at the top of the slide so looked like it had been triggered by someone off piste.
