B198 Warth-Lech, how much notice on road closure ?
I'm heading to Lech tomorrow afternoon from MUC and was intending to drive down the Lechtal.
I'm just a little worried that the Warth-Lech road might close while I'm on the way since it's forecast to snow heavily tomorrow.
I usually use the oeamtc.at web site to check pass & road closures, does anyone know if they will indicate a few hours in advance that the road is likely to close ?

Given how much snow has fallen last night, it'll definitely be closed, and I'd expect the Arlberg pass to be saying chains, possibly also the Flexenpass.

@rdonalds, Warth/ Lech road is closed now, if you are going to Lech you'll have to go via Innsbruck/ St Anton/ Flexenpass. Warth also cut off from Schroeken....snow must be awesome. Lucky locals.

@red 27, If this keeps up it will be a copy & paste of 96/97 Season i.e very late hot summer in Northern Europe suddenly turning cold . 97 was the last time they held the Elfstedentocht in Holland.

They want to expand their ski area with four new lifts, which are to be built by 2020.

hmmmmm 96/97... I think I bought a house that year with the 2nd Mrs red 27 and so could only manage a quick trip with the boys to - I think - La Plagne, which was as I recall very very snowy indeed not that we really cared in those days.

Martin's the boss of the tourismusverband (tourist office). Not an amateur with a snow blower that I've seen when he's been clearing the driveway in past seasons, one or two other locals today seemed a bit rusty with theirs, first use of the season and all that.
Not hammering it down any more, just fairly steady so should add a couple more cm's overnight

Kandahar was lots of fun today, other than where the Fitzwilliam snow cannons had ruined the snow!

There is something very special getting Pow days at the end of last season & begin of this season. No Tourists ...
No lifts just hiking up and one long run down with just a few like minded.

Used to be very quiet but they now have those noisey snow cannons going.

Had a great time in St Anton during December just before Christmas around 3-4 years ago. No problem getting accomodation, loads of powder, no lift queues - fantastic. Might visit again this Dec if the snow keeps coming.

Folks the next 5-7 days is going to be mild kind of +5C i town & only getting down to -2C at 3000Mentres.
Saturday possible snowfall at altitude.
