Zero-G where were you skiing? Lift lines in Flegere were never more than a couple of minutes.

Started off at Le Tour, hopped the bus to Flegere where I did a few pitches, then skied over to Brevent for a few more. I only skied the one side of Flegere, where I saw some hardcore, white-haired old woman monoskiing some really bumpy pitches. Was impressed.

PaddyBlax, that's still way in the future. Welcome to snowheads |
Thanks Zero-G. The future is now so I'm permitting myself to plan again.
I'm arriving on Sunday on my tod, I'd be interested in meeting up with anyone who knows the lay of the land, seems like a tricky resort to just wander around until you find a nice powder bowl etc. You'd have to be fairly open minded though, I'm a boarder (sometime skier) with a very bright jacket..... You could show me the secret powder stashes and I can show you how to enjoy a well earned rest in the middle of a slope:-D

PaddyBlax, I'm still trying to find the secret powder stashes but then I've only been venturing further afield recently. PM me when you get into town. I don't care what planks you have under your feet, as long as your trousers don't hang below your arse

BTW, every now and then I see a group of about 4 or 5 guys, all wearing what can only be described as snow camou, skiing on tech bindings. They're French, so thought they must be local as I've spotted them several times since December. Anyone know what they're about?

I had one of those camo jackets once, I took it off in the woods and couldn't find it again.

RedorDead, the South Bar, in the little square in Cham Sud if you want something chilled (they also do good food). If you want something lively (lots of noise and drunkeness), try Chambre Neuf, near Cham SNCF station. If you want something upmarket, try Le Caves Wine Bar in Rue des Moulin. If you want to be surrounded by very young Brit saisonnaires, there's Monkey Bar and the Munster Bar (both in Cham Sud square) or Bar'd Up at the end of Rue des Moulins.

Well, she certainly floats around, but I doubt that's a localised lack of gravity . . .

How do you dress up as naked prince Harry? Unless........
I'm planning to join a group to board the Vallee Blanche on Monday. Is that madness? (crowds etc) I might switch to skis if the guides (or you) tell me that a board is completely unsuitable for it.

fantastic array of different ways to carry skis this morning outside the Morgane Hotel, best I saw, a blokey, fully tooled up, tiny little backpack, somehow managed to attach his skis on the back, dragging on the floor behind him, watched him study all the locals en route to the Midi. Bless.

Zero-G How were the queues at GM? The carpark looked rammed. Decided to head for quieter pastures to avoid the crowds, real or imagined!

The only real queues were for the top bin and the Bochard bubble (not sure about the bottom cable car, I always take the chair). The pistes were very busy but I skied between, so it didn't affect me (as is evident in the above pic). Did a short section of the magic forest, which was totally skied out – hmm I wonder who was responsible for that? The home run was a bit like peak hour on a motorway!

Another day of blue sky and sunshine, plus warmer temps. For the first time in weeks I stripped off a layer and even got a little sunburnt on my cheeks. Off piste (between the pistes) still had enough softness to be enjoyable. Pistes were hard and scratchy – really tested my ability to ski fatties on hardpack... it is more than doable.
Was on the first lift this morning and standing in the queue behind none other than Glen Plake. And no, I did not do a pro callout, I was too busy being amazed that he had cat tracks on his boots.
