wigan, the skiing at Schlick is at 2000 meters but the gondola starts at the bottom in the Stubai valley and takes you up to a high peak and the skiing in a sort of bowl beyond/behind this peak with the other lifts within this self contained in this bowl. I would not be too worried about the base at the bottom (there was nothing when I was there) because it is mainly an access point in the town to get up the mountain and the piste back to the bottom lift is a single run that is really not much more than just a 5 meter wide windy path.

Conditions were good in Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang yesterday and the crowds not at all bad for a weekend, queuing (5-10 mins) only at a few lifts. Pistes generally hard, occasionally icy. Perfect weather.
Today it has clouded over but there has been little snowfall in Fieberbrunn up till now.

Yesterday was a good example of just how localized the snowfall can be.
Josefsberg and Annaberg in Lower Austria saw 30cm & 25cm respectively but resorts only a few miles away saw 5 cm or less. (e.g. gemeindealpe is ca 6 miles away and has reported no new snowfall)

did thurs to sunday in obertauern at the weekend.. sunshine all the way and pretty nippy.. piste conditions perfect from 8.45 am to about 3 when it got a bit icey up top.. overall tho i'd say the snow there now isnt that deep.. to be honest it was nice just to see some sunshine!! wierd cloud on th elast day in the bottom of the vally blowing over the pass. very strange sking from bright sunshine down into it ..

just back from Ischgl and while conditions are not ideal the cold temps are allowing lots of snow making on the lower runs. Late in the day things do get icy...

I am now in Flachau. all of the slopes are open, and there is good amount of snow. not much of offpiste - the snow is quite hard there. I have been snowboarding in Flachau and the resorts near Flachau since Saturday (Jan 16th), and it has been snowing for the last two days. not heavy snow, but enough to cover the hard snow that was there before.

Peter Ross, I haven't skied Fieberbrunn since the end of last year, so I can't give you an accurate up-to-date report. There haven't been any really heavy snowfalls here this winter yet, so I don't think the off-piste will be spectacular. However, two or three inches of fresh snow fell today, so that will have freshened things up a little. Enjoy your holiday!

Anyone been out to/near Serfaus? It doesn't look like they've had a top up for over a week and very little before that. Ages till I go but doesn't look like the base is building at the moment ...

There wasn't much in England before end of December either! Rest assured there will be at least 100cm of fresh the day before you arrive.

Rowlski, I was in Ischgl last week - that's pretty close and yes they could do with some more but it's been so cold the cannons have been on all the time and what they make is very skiable at cold temps. You'll be OK - not brilliant, but OK.

Rowlski, no thaw - snow on the ground, even in sunny spots, half way back to Zurich.

Snowed Sunday and Monday at schladming and other ski amade areas. Probably 15cms of fresh higher up. Skied top bowl of Planai yesterday, some nice ankle deep powder but the base is very thin still. Did try a line through a favorite wood but meant skiing over bushes, roots & rocks. Today went a little further west to Zauchansee, there's at least 30cm more base so the new snow we've had was very good. Played in some off piste areas, lovely fresh snow (15-20cms) great terrain, lots of gullies, lumps, bumps and jumps. Did a short ski tour late afternoon up out of altenmarkt. Around 400m vert, skied down through meadow lands, cutting through farm yards, back gardens, crossed a road or two. Great fun and my friends 2 dogs loved the powder on the way down. There be snow in them hills, just need to know where

Small amount of fresh snow thrusday night in the area. Skied Wagrain on Friday, a fresh layer on piste and the off piste had 15-20cm of powder. A little wind blown in exposed areas but generally very good.

Back from a week in Mayrhofen. Conditions are good, although the snow is hard-packed below aprox. 2000m. A dusting of snow on Thursday, helped to soften up the pistes. Everything is open, except the ski-routes down to the neighboring towns.

Fresh pow in st johann in Tirol yesterday some super off piste in spots, it's cold so on piste base is very hard. In skiwelt today conditions good but busy so some valley runs are very scraped. Just got up to top of mountain in westerndorf beautiful sunny day but cool. Hope to ski the lenght of the hanamkahn downhill later!!!

Just back from Zell Am See, had almost two days of light but continuous snow giving the pistes a much needed freshen up. Conditions yesterday were excellent, really lovely day!
Pretty cold though, which is good for the snow conditions, but not so good waiting for a taxi in town on Tuesday night!
Having said that, the snow made it worth it. Did the red down to Schuttdorf 3 times yesterday as the snow was so lovely and the piste was pretty much empty.

Just back from Mayrhofen Wed night. Snowed all day Tuesday, about 20cms-ish. Pistes in cracking condition on Wednesday morning, all pisted, still pretty firm esp on the Harakiri side. Can't quite beleive I had to come home. Apres also up to it's usual standards.
