Thought it was much warmer today. The day before yesterday was proper cold, and a bit nicer yesterday even when skiing mostly in the shade of the Aiguille Rouge. Today was positively balmy...

Intermitantly, yes. Very light snow for most of the morning, but last hour or so it's getting heavier. Almost tempted to go out to play in it

I know this sounds stingy...but on our last day sat 17 jan we don't leave the resort till around 2ish,so we can ski in the morning. Is it possible to get the bus from 1800 to a higher village and ski anything? other than that it's a full days pass for us...and I have 3 to pay for...Sob!

andyjc, half day passes start at 12.30 so if you wanted to ski you would need a full day pass. You can get a bus from 1800 up to bellecote but you will need a lift pass to ski from there back down to 1800

It only feels really cold on the longer chairlifts in the shade, the sunshine seems to keep everything warm enough. Good low temperatures are keeping the snow nicely, but we could do with a bit more, as some of the steeps on some of the reds are getting a bit icy as the top fluff has been skiied off. I saw a girl slide down the whole 200m top section of the Kamikaze today on her backside as she couldn't get a ski edge in to stop herself. Le Source was excellent, the steep bit with the cliff to the left didn't get too icy either.
Went all the way down to Champagny yesterday and a mid section of le Bois had ice warning signs and there was a nasty 100m narrow or so that was like a 30 degree ice rink. So the pistes are holding firm but showing signs of needing a dump soon. Our fingers are crossed we might see a change during the week but the skies are blue!
Edit: forgot to add we went all the way down to Montchavin today for lunch, the pistes above there were all in great condition, I had a great time on the Mont Blanc (a new name, not shown on the piste maps, it's a 5km blue all the way, and the red Montchavin. Good stuff between the trees, my boarding mates reported when we met up at the bottom.
The cold has kept the pistes really empty, overall it's been a great couple of days so far, fingers crossed for some new snow though!
