You mean Murren ?? if so yes i can.step outside my front door and ski down to the Allmendhubel funnicular or keep going to the Schilthorn Bahn but in most cases i always catch the funnicular up first and warm up while skiing down to the Schilthorn Bahn.

D G Orf, no,look at Maennlichen it shows -3C.The temps at the schilthorn are sometimes wrong and show plus instead of minus.
Now at the Schilthorn at 12.20pm its - 7C but looking at the other cams from swiss-panaroma.com it must be right.

D G Orf, very nice....I think I ramble through a lot of cams each day to see what the conditions are like. Now that I've switched gears for the season (ski instead of rock climb) and yesterday gave me a small taste for taking turns again, I'm wishing I could just follow the snow and take , oh say, 5 months off work.

I will be there last week in January, first week in february in Wengen.
As for 5 months to ski the season I wish!!

Chris Brookes, It's hard to tell but I think even the roofs in Wengen are looking whiter tonight. Also of course there's the one down really low in the Valley, when that one goes white then I'll be happy

I love all these live cams. You can either get really excited watching all the white stuff coming down or really depressed when it is green and grey!!!!!!

Definition of a good winter, when there's so much snow thay you can't see the roadside fenceposts on the stechelberg web cam, but not so much that you can't ski due to the avalanches, that's what Im wanting this year

No snow forecast for today but more (up high at least) forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday with temps dropping for the next 5 days, things are looking up

Mac46, The Mannlichen, from almost top down though they rarely need the top ones, Wengenalp down plus a couple of higher ones, Kline Schidegg down to Grindelwald all runs but again the higher ones are rarely needed , Wengen nursery slope.
Chris can probably tell you what the situation is like at Murren.

Snow forecast tonight(around 10cms).Next couple of days temps rising but by saturday they drop again.Long range weather forecast states good amount of snow by end of next week(but..it can change so quickly !!)

From my 10 day trip I will be skiing likely 8 of those days. What would you recommend for immediately surrounding areas to go ski? And do the passes usually cover the region or each area? Sorry, just not familiar with it and would like to maximize my time there.

nextascent, get the region pass that will cover the whole of the Jungfrau Region and give you 210km of pistes to ski, it may be worth your joining the DHO in the resort as they do a daily guided trip (except saturdays) covering much of the area, realistically there are no other areas that could be reached quickly from Wengen though they may be fairly near (such as Gstadd) as the crow flies they are beyond lines of mountains so reqire several hours travelling to get to, if you do a search for Piste Maps and Jungfrau region you should be able to find several that will show the whole area

No change in snow depths from Yesterday but 1 cm of fresh snow all over
Possible light snow later today otherwise next expected light snow on Saturday
Temps will remain below freezing at higher levels, temps at resort level will remain just above freezing, warmest day Friday coldest Sunday

Excellent DG, Let's hope it stays nice and cold until Christmas. I enjoy your postings about Wengen. After skiing in France and some in Austria, there is something about wengen.....
Good skiing , outstanding scenery and friendly people. ...And the Alpenrose. What more could anyone want.

D G Orf, thanks again for the info. I am seriously distracted by this trip! My childhood memories are faded but there somewhere in the background and seem to be elevating. Or perhaps it's stories I heard and I'm applying visuals to them? At any rate, passport at hand and many days on my home mountains conditioning should get me by until then.

nextascent, if you want to meet the strange people that make up the DHO you will find them usually in the Curling Club Hut between the Hotel Silberhorn and the Ice Rink, walk uinder the arcaded area by Alpia Sport to get to it, they can usually be found there after about 5.30pm until almost 7pm details usually posted on most hotel notice boards and the Hut door for the weeks events and times. I think you can have a taster day with the DHO for free but they like to know numbers going with them and don't do lessons

No fresh snow today and none left in Wengen that's worth measuring otherwise same depths as previously possibly more snow Saturday and a chance of Further snow though possibly rain at resort level Tuesday, forecast for next 5 days is for thurther cold weather at altitude but temps just over freezing lower down, given that with the possible exception of the weekends the resort does not open for another month this is still good news
