Sun has reappeared again here now. I'd estimate around 7 cm of fresh snow on the ground. Enough to turn the brown to white, but we need much more to open up most of the off piste options. Sounds like the weekend could bring that, together with a significant avalanche risk, but unfortunately I wont be here to enjoy it.

pam w, miranda, I make an rare visit to the land of the La's and the Les-ies myself soon so am taking an uncommon interest in all things Gallic - but mostly the chuffing weather forecast.
nozza, these Meteociel snow-accumulators pictures seem rose-tinted at best - is time to consign them to the bin of hopeless optimism?

BOOM!
(actually thinking about it that is probably the noise that the avalanche bombing will make with the current snowpack... )

Re killy, there now having beer in Sun bar bottom of Solaise express,I must say conditions are awesome, even the famously ice M piste back diwn to Val is in good condition, now for those of you who know that run, that's a miracle but a clear indication of how good things are despite the half term crowds, I've done all the sectors. And found the snow excellent, and if you do get some more at the weekend, happy days for those coming here next week, what a week all that ranting about the lack of snow came to nothing,my family and I had a great time, have fun to all those going skiing again this season, good luck and bon ski

looks like a light fall of snow from Saturday night through to Monday morning with Switzerland being the main beneficiary but a freshening for W Austria and NW France resorts too - maybe 10cm - before the dreaded high pressure takes hold again for a week or so at least.

I think all the big snow is going to fall at the end of March. Because that's when I've decided I'm going skiing again - and in the French Alps too

Wet weather moving in from the Atlantic (via parts of the UK) looks like bringing snow to much of the Alps over the next 48 hours. The one area which currently looks set to miss out is North West Italy.
Of the three bands of snow since mid February this looks like being the strongest so far (20cm+ would be my guess). So respectable if not huge. The second half of February has nevertheless been a lot snowier than the first half.

Looks like heavy cloud cover pretty much all week as the low passes over and down into the med. With snow filtering back in and out and around it all week. Looks like there could be quite a steady accumilation until next week end in the french Alps. Not so good for visibilty but good for the snow pack, as opposed to having one almighty dump on that hard pack which could cause problems all of it's own. We shall see. Then looking at the latest models looks all up in the air again but the temp seems to remain stable and reasonably cold into FI. How am i doing NOZA any good or am i talking rubbish

As Arteta10 suggests could keep snowing through Tuesday in parts of French Alps and North West Italy as low pressure kicks around the Mediterranean once the initial band of snow has passed through...
Starting to clear up (and cool down, especially in the Eastern Alps) from Thursday.
