skiking4, nice one. glad you got some soft snow. Its busy at the moment but mostly on piste.
I've been quiet all week. made the mitake of believing the forecasts and planing conservatively. How long are you around for?
Fohen wind blowing at the moment real spring conditions today. hope it sorts any surface hoar, then let it snow.
It is fore cast to snow all day tomorow but its pretty clear at the moment.

Heading out to Verbs in late march, how is the snow looking for then? i know it's a way off but the base seems pretty good.
Also i've been looking for an apres review for Verbs and am struggling to find one..............and ideas for a thread for that? Heard Farinet is always fun.

RPF, Thursday was my last day. The clouds in the morning chased everyone off, so once the clouds dissappeared and blue skies appeared, we raced up to Mt Fort, got a nice 2-3 inch coating with very few other tracks down the main couloir (traversing skiers left at top) and including a foot of freshies that existed elsewhere so some bowls were awesome on the backside. A bit cruddier down lower however.

Sadly, although it snowed pretty much all day yesterday, there wasn't that much fresh today ~10 cm so not filling in any bumps and I was still hitting old underlying crust when turning off piste. On the good side, however, most pistes are now in the best condition they've been all season.

bobinch, how was Cham?
I was probably a bit harsh about conditions yesterday, they weren't that bad and first tracks are first tracks. Just after a day of snow I was expecting a bit more.

Pretty damn nice today, put first tracks of the day in Barry's and finally hit Rock Garden for the first time. Snow was excellent: soft, light and fresh

Steve Sparks, you know those things that you keep looking at but can never quite get round to? It was one of those. By the time we'd skied all our usual routes it was always too tracked to be worth the hike.

Neilski, yeah certainly better terrain than the Espace Killy (no guide though considering the best off piste here requires a guide), Kitzbuhel, Squaw Valley, and Heavenly, the best mountains I've skied since I've achieved that advanced/expert status. But never got to experience Stairway...

skidog, It was a great day. Cheers for posting the pics.
It was snowing again this morning but it cleared by 11ish There has been quite a bit of wind following Fridays snow and the upper lifts were closed today; Mt Gele, Gentians, as was Vallon Darbi.
Avi risk is 4.
The Gullies on the lac de Vaux side of Mont Gele are heavily cross loaded.
It was relatively quiet today.

Another excellent day, I only wish I'd drunk less last night. Lots of fresh to be had still, it definitely seems to have been a bit slower to track too

Swirly, opened up the backside yet?
RPF, apparently someone died in an avalanche in Bruson on Saturday. Do you know where?

bobinch, Didnt hear about that I'll let you know if I do.
There were 2 slides on the face at Six Blanc skiers right as you go up the t-bar.
2 more off the ridge you hike up to it, on the left above the traverse line used by the ski tourers I think at least one of these was released artificially by piste patrol.
We avoided the steepest pitches on Saturday as there was quite a bit of heavy snow and the wind had been active. It got very strong again that evening.
Mont Gele opened again today tracks allover although its not totally thrashed like it usually is.
