Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Pics from the openbing day, since then not been worth taking any.

Where Transarc meets Arc 2000 lifts.

Me for once at the bottom of grand Col lift with an empty piste.

Looking down on Arc 2000

Two of my favorite places to ski, but what are they called?

Hope you liked them, who can name where I took the last one from and which two routes am I talking about?

Good night.

Looks like there was a bit of a dusting last night - which is good as I was expecting a big melt from rain.

Snowcrazy - nice photos, pretty unsurprising the green jackets are in the 2000 bowl coming opening day...

Other news - the squirrel in Plan-Peisey has had a make-over, no longer mountain-brown (and that's the polite version) but more red. Opening night was tonight so lots of sore heads in the morning I'm sure.

I so want to be there...

Well what can we say. After all the rain yesterday, it changed around again last night and what a great treat we had this morning. Blue sky fresh powder down to below Arc 1950 and loads of it. Must have been at least 20cm last night, perhaps more higher up. They opened the middle two lifts at 9.15 ish and they stayed open all day. I had a 9.15 meet so had the pleasure of fresh tracks for at least the first dozen runs. Toofy Grin Then slowly others came out so that by 2pm it was just as well they opened the Varet. This gave us all another whole area to ski in fresh powder. only a small part of that was touched by the time lifts closed at 4.40pm. They had pisted all the main runs, but with the fresh snow on top it gave a chance to get those powder turns right on easy snow. The best news for me is the knee seems to be holding up after my op. thanks to all those that wishes me well earlier in the year. I now look forward to a great, but careful Skullie season. Twisted Evil

What a great day and now it is -8 outside and promises to be another great day tomorrow. bring it on. snowHead

What a great view today.

Yes the powder today was really that deep Very Happy

snowcrazy, Yoo Da MAAAAANNN....

God I needed that. Superb pics, a real lift and just what I needed after tales of rain etc.

Love the "all alone" pic... and glad to hear the knee is holding up, I've been through it myself with dislocated shoulders and its a great feeling to be back in shape. Just take it easy.

Bring on January... I won't stop doing the obligatory snow dance each night before I say me prayers. snowHead

Looking better - using the cam which looks over from La Plangne to Vallandry though still looks like the snow line is around 1600m - few hundred ms higher than I'd be happy with

Pleased you all liked the pics yesterday. snowHead Sorry was to lazy to get the camera out today as we did not get any fresh snow last night. Sad It did stay very cold so -8 at the Arcubule Chair this morning. The snow stayed quite good all day as it never really went above freezing. Still only the Arc 2000 bowl open right now but they have been busy preparing pistes all over the place and I was told that Arc 1800, Arc 1600 and yes even Peisey - Vallandry will open as planned on saturday if the weather holds up. Not sure about Villaroger but will try to find out tomorrow. Tonight we have clear skies again and cold. Should be another good day tomorrow. Sorry but it will be time to spoil the few untracked places left if they open a few more lifts. But I will be thinking of you all Toofy Grin

snowcrazy, re picture questions:

The photo is from Col de le Chal towards Bellecote North Face and hence your two routes are the itineraire round the back of Aguille Grive towards Nancroix, and of course the north face itself... he guesses!

JimW, give the man a prize. correct, but you know I love to ski those routes all the time. Col de la chal route down to Nacroix is great for everybody. I did it first when I was very very young Very Happy , But if you do not know the route or have the gear, take a guide. The second, Bellecote North face, only for the serious off piste skier with a guide unless you really know the routes and ALL the safety gear. I just cannot wait until we have enough snow to start doing them this season.

Now, what about my other challenge re. the new piste map. So far nobody has told me the name of any pistes that have been changed or are missing from this years map on the Les Arcs side. Come on or have I really got you all stumped Twisted Evil

Well there's the changes in Plan-P - i.e. construction of Poney piste. Plus there's a red missing from the top of tommelet lift that ran across to Rouelles, but I'm sure you covered that earlier when you were talking about the removal of gollet

what else have I missed? If there's much more gone (given the loss of the 2x blacks on the LP side) then surely they'll have to start marketing Paradisk as 420km of piste.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?
bertie bassett, Yes the red is missing, I did not count the new lift as it is not running yet. But yes i agree that is a change. What about any others.

There are more changes for this season in Les Arcs. Sorry not giving anyone help on this one. Toofy Grin

Well maybe one clue, some of the changes are quite small. BUT not all of them.

thefatcontroller, If you think you have found the changes post them here. If you do not post them I am thinking you have not found them all Toofy Grin

I get the feeling I have everyone stumped this time. Twisted Evil

Horrendous flat bit in the middle of 2000 bowl. There was supposed to be work done during the Summer to add gradient.
