Well Avoriaz, Les Gets (I think) and La Grande Terche are all open this weekend. Must be our 'terrible' snow cover that's allowing it to happen

It was fantastic@Sunshine81, snow was lovely and plentiful - not too busy and the sun shone. Definitely worth getting up early for a Sunday

Anyone able to give an accurate current view of conditions in Les Gets? Coming out on 27th Dec but still have nightmares about turning up in Les Gets 22nd Dec last year and the place was literally green!!

No-one can ever guarantee anything, but what I will say about last year was that its was unusually bad. They were saying it was the worst Christmas in about 50 years.
I am out on the 25th and I am not panicking yet

I watch the webcams every day! Have been going to Les Gets for the last six years at Christmas and am well familiar with the weather sites. Thought that somebody would be "on the ground" on this blog to give up to date information. Thought I noticed it snowing today? I probably should have clicked on the weather forum.

wait till daylight...? Maybe? @hubble, Morzine/Les Gets might have been a bit low for snow today. I was looking at the web cams for Les Saisies, which is a fair bit higher, and it seems to have been just drizzly/wet all day down in the village. No sign of any snow; it was too warm but possibly were a few flakes up the top, shrouded in mist all day. But there are reports that it has been snowing (just a few cms) at Val d'Isere.
You can be 100% sure that as soon as there is anything of note to report, somebody will report it. But if you just keep nagging, you'll p!ss people off.

@hubble, or anyone else, how easy is it to get to Les Gets should the conditions be crap in morzine? Appreciate Avoriaz seems to be the place to go but just wondering about Les Gets?

@under a new name, note to self, must try harder
I'll be up there working all weekend, so will poke my finger in the ground and report back if anything has changed. On the hopeful side, at lake level (400m) it was cold last night and rained fairly heavily for a few hours. On the not so hopeful front, it was 11c today.

@duncansarmy, depends if all the lifts are open, but it's straightforward from Plenney, about 10 mins of lifting and shuffling

Champery was open all weekend plus bank holiday bonus of Monday and Tuesday. Was a bit patchy but not as bad as I was expecting. Open again Saturday Sunday, with Cable Car running all next week for walking and restaurant trips. Forecast clear so not much chanc of a top up

There was snow up the top of Les Gets yesterday but damp stuff. Nothing but light drizzle in the village. Was -5 for the school run this morning but now shaping up to be another sunny day.

On skis take the standard morning route: up Pleney, ski 200yds right and up Belvedere. Ahead and right from there and you're on the blue that takes you down to Les Gets.
Off skis: Aulps bus, route 1 (Rd pt de la passerelle stop) or 2 (loads of stops on the 'wrong' side of the wobbly bridge and a couple along the road past the bottom of the Pleney). 1.5 Euro each way and last bus back from Les Gets 18:00 - http://medias.morzine-avoriaz.com/documents/guide_des_transports_hiver_2015_2016.pdf
