Hi @Nick D, hope you made it back to blighty OK. It was good to catch up with you. We had a great week last week. Snow was pretty decent for the time of year. Did the tunnel on Tuesday at lunch-time and the entrance into the run was pretty tricky with a few casualties. Once on the run though it was great. Did the Sarenne on Thursday, but reckon it must've been the last day it was open. The snow on the track at the end was non-existent in places and had to take the skis off at one point and walk about 20m. Overall the snow around the area was excellent though, but I guess it's now taking a bit of a hammering.
Was a funny old season all in all. Managed some good skiing, but unless you were really lucky, there were no big powder days. Let's start counting down the days until next season.

@Bjorn_again_Daehlie Had a nightmare journey home on Sunday, tell you about it all over a pint at Christmas! Agreed about the season, Easter Sunday was one of the best days of the winter for me, loads of boot deep powder, skied all the upper runs including the Tunnel with not a soul around, was getting pretty skied out and slushy lower down by the time we left on Sunday but enough for 2 more weeks skiing on the upper runs.
Roll on 2015-16

@skitow, Same here, more of the same next winter, maybe tempt you for a few OP missions!? TGV from Lyon was actually excellent, just Eurostar was cr@p.

I thought I'd post something to finish off the season. If you didn't turn up until the end of January, then the chances are you'd think you were like a pig in the proverbial. From about Jan 25 it snowed all the time, beautiful wintry dry powder on every slope, great especially when you were lower down the resort. So Auris, Villard and the runs down to Huez. Higher up it was avalanche risk 4 and the off piste reserved for dreamers and adventurers with no real awareness or brain. It did settle sometimes and you could do one of the great runs, but then another huge fall and it was back to playing on the safer slopes. I saw three big avalanches this season, as many as I ever want to see. What happened in February was by and large more of the same, but with slightly bigger windows to get out onto the Pyramide, the Combe and elsewhere. Good days were magnificent. Then in March it all disappeared. I missed the early April snowfalls, but was back in time to enjoy some touring and great runs off the dome and elsewhere. Looking at the webcams today, I can't believe how much has gone. But when it was good, it was amazing. Not dependable, not predictable, but still a whole load of fun

@FranzKlammer, Nice summary, as with most seasons its all down to timing, I was pretty unlucky this year except our 2 weeks at Easter which included a couple of epic days

@FranzKlammer, , a very good summary of the season. Never managed any epic powder days myself (for the first season in a long time), but on the whole, the skiing was pretty good even into mid-April with the Tunnel still well skiable until then.
@Nick D, You mentioned that you got un-stuck travelling over to Les 7 Laux. Do you have to take the road around past Grenoble to get there or is there a quicker way?

@Bjorn_again_Daehlie, You can go Vizille-Uriage then pick up the Chambery road which may be a quicker way to return if the traffics busy at the usual spots but to be honest Grenobles probably just as quick.

@Nick D, Just had a flyer from SATA about lift passes, the winter season one for 13-64 years is 569€ if you buy before 4th. October. £406 at 1.4
Just looked, it was 559€ last year but obviously not at 1.4 for us.

@skitow, yeah was just looking at it, the annual pass is pretty good value too at 1.4!
