Brexit or No deal Brexit is no real worry for Brexited-Skiers. Stanton has been peddling this thread for over 3 years with obscure data and details from fake truth websites. Certainly by now (3 ski-seasons on) prices will have shifted upwards, but only to a small degree.
I still maintain that it will inevitably be the service/retail sectors in ski resorts that shall carry the brunt of 1 million UK skiers with less Brexit- pounds to spend. And those skiers will certainly still enjoy their skiing wherever they ski, their beers in the Mooservirt/Folie Douce or wherever they drink, and most probably will watch what the missus/kids buy in resort. But ski they will, Brexit or no deal Brexit!

YES i blame politicians such as Nigel Farage and Boris Johnston for stirring up division to suit their own agendas, the exit plan was reported to be a couple of pages long, yes a few pages!
Thats some gamble to take and of course having more knowledge of the likely outcomes than 99% of us sitting at laptops they bailed out.
Thats some stitch up right there.
Further to that , i listened to the experts on a global scale who scientifically gave us analysis and projections of what we were gambling with but thats not as much fun as finger pointing and being ignorant.
Further again , destabilisation and division within Europe historically doesnt work out well , yanno for those of us with kids and grandkids , war isnt a game.
But yeah , seems all some folk have to worry about is whether other people on internet forums use appropriate capitalisation and punctuation.

Great post.
Look Brexit hasn't even happened and already it has led to sterling tanking, property prices floundering, inflation, less disposable income, elections, change of PMs, international loss of credibility in the UK and of course 3 years of system stasis.
In short the UK is dangling on a precipice, with its politicians playing bluff, while the rest of the world is getting on about it's business planning for futures without the UK....
As for skiing next season being more expensive, even in Scotland it will be , as all imported goods and services will be pricier. (Skis, etc) Well done Brexiteers, you've really fupped up Britain!!
Really? The paralysis in our politics has led to more employment and higher wages than ever before - goes to show how little we need politicians!

Property prices are hardly floundering, inflation is not worryingly high (within the BoE targets unless I missed something). We do actually have elections and changes of MPs as part of the way our democratic system works, so again, not big deal.

Rob,
Yup maybe, but the £ is cheap for a reason I.e. the governance of the country is crap and unstable, and the UK is severing integrated ties with a market of 500 million people to chase uncertain trade agreements with other more remote countries who will have the upper hand in trade negotiations...so the UK will have to make itself even cheaper just to stay afloat in the short to medium term imho, hence the current market view.
Only hope is Boris the buffoon bluffer , will opt for a BINO type deal ,and then maybe stg can regain some ground. Right now that's uncertain and markets hate uncertainty...

@stanton, Six month low. It has been slightly lower, but then recovered as it will do again as soon as we have political stability. Even at its lowest, it's still 10% higher than your prediction 3 years ago.
@skimastaaah, I'll start taking notice of what Branson thinks when he starts paying his share of UK tax. All he cares about is the effect on his uk profits when he converts to Dollars.
0.1% of his worth would have repaired the hurricane damage, without all the other billionaires who live there chipping in, but he expected the British taxpayer to subsidise it. ****ng parasite!

and I still predict that post-Brexit uk skiers will still ski in the eu.
whatever the exchange rate.
and that the only real sector to suffer from uk ski post-Brexit-sterling-valuation will be the ski resort service industries. obvs.
not a MENSA conundrum really.

@Scooter in Seattle, Stanton enjoys winding up the Brits, keep feeding the troll and he will keep at it ad nauseum. As for the Brits it has all become like some bizarre Byzantine theological debate of which the origins have been long forgotten and is completely mystifying to outsiders. As an American I am sure you will be aware of the sort of thing . The thread could go on for another 59 pages and the arguments would not change.

3 years since Nigel and Haggis_Crap predicted parity or worse and I'm still waiting for it. I have just picked up a nice MTB for my son in GBPs and at 1.12 it was a pretty sweet deal but parity would have been even sweeter.
It better hurry up, a bit like Burckhardt waiting for a caravan to take him to the source of the Nile, Nigel is in his twilight years and may not live long enough to see it.

Parity will be broken..
At the present & forseable future Sterling is just a Political Currency.
£1.00 = €0.85cents on No Deal Exit |
we will see £1 = €1.50 before we see £1 = 85cents

@stanton, Don't worry, We'll all be buying Euros in the next few months anyway. I might leave mine until Boris' deadline, or even later.
No deal might even bump the rate up.
