As I mentioned, it is to the side of a much used area, but the background is the clue.
Can I get better resolution somehow?

No, but getting a bit closer. This place isn't really known for off piste but actually has enough for a good day or two.
With more definition on the houses it might have helped. It isn't the resort that directly serves this skiing.
If nobody has got it by this evening I'll put on another pic from a bit further back on the ridge.

@albob, Obvious once you see the detail of the railway yard. TBH on the first pic I couldn't even work out that it was a town at all, but once you've seen it it does seem painfully obvious.

If you're in La Ros you normally see the "skull" of the pistes of Les Arcs / Villaroger, so I don't think it's the right aspect for that but must be somewhere in the Les Arcs domain?

Yes, sorry to answer so late (I have been away). It is indeed La Rosiere: the free ride area marked on the piste map to skiers right of the Roc Noire lift. Over to you albob.
I had wanted to post a larger pic, so the town (Bourg St Maurice as you say) would be clearer, but couldn't work out what had to be added to my Imgr link.

Oh I just learned how to do it (but too late for this time). Skier is my friend Jason and photo by another of the group, Chris Howe, a brilliant photographer. Mid-December last winter.

In that case, since the other two areas were in France we are presumably talking France. La Plagne?

It looks familiar, definitely reminds me of a specific place/run, but can't quite put my finger on it. Possibly la Grand Terche?
