Glad you had a good time, luigi, sounds like it wasn't as busy as the week before.
Just checked my pass - 25,000 m vertical, 125km distance, so you kicked me into touch there!
(Mind you we did have our 6 year old son on tow for two half days - and lost two hours queueing on our day out to Marmolada )
Re the Sass Long - I didn't realise it was a Men's world cup downhill! We took the black on the left - is that the one?
Cheers

smich, Did your son go to ski school? I'm having "discussions" about ski school with my 6 year old at the moment. He doesn't see why he should have to go if his brother doesn't.

Mollerski, Where are they? Did the kids enjoy it? I just think he will have a better time if he skis with other kids at his own level rather than trails around behind the adults all week. Don't get me wrong, we do, of course, want to spend time skiing with him, just not all the time

Hi yes James did skischool, booked thru Crystal. We were a little disappointed he was the only English child in his class of 12 (it's to be expected though I suppose) but his instructor, Gloria, was fantastic and spoke English to him all the time (and she was very good looking! lol). Also he didn't mind being "alone" in the class atall in fact he seemed to enjoy teaching the other kids English!!!
I was most impressed by James' appreciation of risk this time around, he was much more gung ho last year, but in level two he had clearly learnt to control his speed for the conditions.
All in all, a quantum leap above the tuition he had in France in previous years.
Hope this helps!

Who are you going with and are you going during school hols?
We put ours in lessons in the mornings when they were young and they skied with the rest of us in the afternoons. The above questions will determine whether your TO organises kids lessons and whether there will be other Brit kids in the lessons. One of our boys was almost always the only Brit kid in his class. He loved it because the level of skiing was high and he made a very good Italian friend who's mother then arranged their hols to coincide with ours to enable the boys to ski together.

In the equivalent week last season, we got 4 feet of snow in 3 days. [That's 120cm for those in new currency.]
Would be fantastic if that repeated itself when we're there next week.

I'm flying out there in the morning as well. Looks like a competition is on the cards. Packed lunch it is then to eat on the lifts and catheter fitted so no loo breaks. I may even pack my head torch to get some late night runs in.

Start before the lifts open and get a taxi from where you are staying to the top of the nearest pass. Then ski down into the next valley before the lifts open. Should give you an extra few 1000m of descent.
Of course, the extra won't be shown on the stats as you used a taxi to get up there, rather then the lifts!

Another good tip for stacking up those all-important distance and lift stats is to wear blinkers of at least very dark-lens goggles. I waste so much time standing staring open-mouthed at the beauty of the scenery.
