heading to LesMenuires at 30 December, i will post here a couple of questions : which lift or connection i had definitely to avoid during the high season? I have almost three hours to skiing alone as long as the kids are in the school. I dont want to loose eg 30min waiting for a gondel.
And any suggestion for a break with the kids in Les Menuires after they finishe the course? dont bother for something fancy. Somethling like self service or pizza - sandwich etc.

Where are you in Les Menuires ?
Was there in March this year (2023) and didn't find any bits that busy. Minor queues at Roc 1 and Les Menuires lift at begininging of day, but 5-10 mins max.
The main bit - La Croisette - L'hacienda is good for Kids. Tex Mex, (yeah yeah) but my kids loved it for lunch.
Chalet Du Sunny is great for afternoon hot chocolate with kids.
Paturages is a lovely blue down to repeat over and over to get confidence up.
It's definitely do-able to dip down into Meribel (mottaret) and back in a morning. Point De La Masses is also great. Loads to keep you busy.

It's a busy week.@turms2, but the lifts queues are speedy-even if they look long, I don't think you will wait more than 10 mins for most. Best advice-drop the kids at ski school early as you can and then get to the lifts before the ski schools set off. From your description of your location, i think you can access the Bruyeres gondola next to the ski school meeting point, which would get you up to the top of Mont de La Chambre early, from where you have a number of options. mine would be to head down Venturons then all the way to Mont Vallon bubble, get in the singles queue and ski the Combe du Vallon.
Alternatively ski down to where La Masse gondola starts. If you can get there early, a trip up la masse first thing in the morning would be good-but the queue forms quickly.
It's a while since I've ventured into restaurants in Bruyeres. La Marmite is good, but probably not quite what you are after.

We were there in March, and it was totally fine.
People on here say Feb is Frenchies-off-school. Otherwise you'll be fine.
The busiest we saw was Point De La Masse, or the Reberty lift. but honestly you'll love it.
Les Menuires is great for families and kids. Take them for Crepes in the main shopping centre one afternoon. Hot Choc one afternoon, or wander the souvenir shops.

…and in good news for Courchevel skiers the Coqs chairlift, which I don’t actually remember running at all last winter (maybe Feb busy weeks), is already running - result!!

Coqs (our kids’ favourite lift in the 3Vs for some reason) was not running during February HT this year … anyway, possibly a naive question despite the fact that we’re 3V regulars. Do you need a guide or avi gear to ski the Grand Couloir? Our teenage boys who are extremely good skiers would like to do it in a few weeks. There’s absolutely no chance I’m attempting the entry traverse on my board so I’ll need to make sure they’ll be safe / fine. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Due to the energy crisis, all resorts had to reduce the number of lifts working, and it was decided to sacrifice Coqs last season as one of those.

Grand Couloir is a marked run, so no avi kit is required. It was open last week when we were there, though we didn't ski it (although we've skied it a few times in the past).

Belated Merry Christmas! Great weather and good conditions on piste yesterday morning. .... but very slushy with icy patches on the lower slopes in the afternoon afternoon. Lots of bodies sprawled out on the run below Ronnies down towards the Chaudanne. Recommend getting out early and novice skiers taking the lift down from the Rhodos mid station to Meribel centre to avoid the carnage later in the day.

Nothing new there … that run (Doron) has to be reconfigured. It’s enough to put beginners off snowsports for good.

Does anyone have thoughts of the best thing to do in Meribel for new years eve?

Stay at home with a bottle of red and some nice cheese.
Early to bed and first lifts on NYD while everyone else takes a late start.

NYE has always been a massive event in my life, so I am happily resigned to having NYD off from skiing - Just hoping to find the most lively event on the slopes for it!

Hi everyone! I am trying to buy ski passes for my family online for 3 Vallees and all my cards are rejected. Anyone had similar problems with their website? Is it straightforward to get ski passes for the next days if I arrive late afternoon? Thanks in advance.

@Docand, I haven't had any problems buying lift passes with cards online. The opening times of the lift pass offices vary depending upon location and whether it is a weekday or weekend. The main Meribel Chaudanne office is open until 5 pm everyday. Others close between 2-2.30pm on weekdays and 4-5 pm at weekends. Check https://www.skipass-meribel.com/en/sales-point

Unseasonably mild the last few days, and now quite busy (particularly on the usual pinch points).
Good skiing to be had though - pistes above 2000m are generally in really good nick first thing in the morning.
Off piste high & north is still fun skiing on chalky snow mostly, with softer snow still around if you are happy to walk/skin, anything catching the sun is more or less unpleasant to ski on the whole... Could do with a top up though, particularly with the New Year hordes now arrived!

Second that, staying in Preyerand and probably 10-15cm come down. Very light now but should be epic first thing. Number of NYE plans being changed I suspect to “must get up early”….

Low cloud, yesterday morning, cleared after a couple of hours resulting in a pretty good day on the slopes. It was, however, extremely busy in the Méribel Chaudanne, around midday, with long lift queues. Unfortunately, the anticipated overnight snowfall turned out to be a mixture of snow and rain with the snow/rain limit at around 1900m. This resulted in the lower slopes into Mottaret centre being extremely hard and icy this morning and the 10-15cm of fresh snow on the upper slopes being rather heavy. More snow is forecast tonight with a freezing level at 1500m.

Today I left mottaret early and went to Val Thorens and Orelle. Queues were ok, up to 5-10 min maximum. Fresh snow and maybe a bit high temperature, I assume were the cause for bad piste conditions, too many bumps for me, pistes were as if they hadn't been groomed. The only ones I enjoyed were Col d audzin and Gentianes.
