I mean, you have to admire the bottle and the seamanship involved, but why would you? Apparently it's quite common for Wayfarers to make that trip.

Nothing quite so big and brave but in the mid '80s we sailed 4 Wayfarers from The River Rother in Rye around the Kent Coast and up the Thames Estuary as far as Gillingham (over 4 days).
We did have support from a RIB, and we did go ashore every night for sleep / food etc..
But from the shallow draft (useful on the Goodwin sands) to the stability and speed in strong winds, the Wayfarer was brilliant.
Not sure I'd fancy crossing the North Sea in one though.
