Just got back from an awesome week. Yes, the temperatures were a little on the high side, but still didn't stop us enjoying ourselves. Never did get to the Folie Douce! A bit annoyed as an out of control Russian put pay to our apres ski beverage yesterday by wiping out my 13-year-old daughter. I was so very angry, and not just about missing out on the beer! Ended up in the medical centre and quite a lot of money lighter for the privilege.
Anyway, can't wait to go back... Maybe end of April for hubby's 40th birthday, but we shall see.
Now I shall go through your pics 123_456, see if I can spot myself!
I too have been looking in the pics to spot us but we aren't there.
We too had a brilliant week. Tanned faces all round.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yeah, well that's so true. But I thought you wouldn't be able to miss my bright yellow trousers and pink jacket!
In the afternoon a clear sky with white clouds. Strong winds and at the summit sometimes light snowfall. The temperature is going down and this transforms wet snow into lots of icy surfaces.
Out of interest where is this and what are they coming out of? Some kind of exhibit???

A few weeks ago, in front of restaurant Chalets de Thorens and the 360 Bar, there was temporary a huge hill for skijumping organized by Frost Gun
To give access to the 360 Bar they have made a tunnel in the hill and put a red carpet in it.

BTW, if anyone is interested, my husband made this little video this morning whilst waiting for the Grand Prix to come on:

During the first hours of the morning the weather was not too bad. It start snowing at 14.00 hour and sometimes is was very misty. Yesterday the snow forecast for the coming days was 74 cm, but the new forecast of today indicated not more than 30 cm. The lower pistes today are slushy and colored more brownish then white. So the new snow will arrive just in time. First result of this evening : 10 cm snow.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

The total amount of fresh snow is not so impressive as predicted. Last night it snowed only during some short periods. During the day the sunny spells were very frequently present and overall it was quite a sunny day. The temperature is below zero and the snowcanons can produce more snow. The condition of the piste is improved, but 10 cm snow will not last very long.
Down in the Vallée des Bellevilles just below St Martin des Bellevilles there were some nice sights with the fresh on the rocks and in the trees.
Looks like the lower trails could do with a snow topup.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

The temperature at 3000 meter was +4 degrees. There was a lot of sunshine, but also some clouds in the afternoon. At the end of the afternoon there were very dark clouds around the summits of the Aiguille de Péclet and Cîme Caron and the means snow the Maurienne Valley. Today the French Championship for SkiCross toke place in Val Thorens.
And Rossignol had a servicepoint near Altapura were you could test different type of Rossignol skis.
@whitegold we have to wait at least an week before a next topup, but sunshine is also good

A beautiful sunny day with a lot of big cumulus clouds in the sky.
Skiracing for youngsters on the pistes of the SnowPark BK in Les Menuires
Most of the the pistes stayed a long time very good because of the lack of skiers on this quiet Saturday. The temperature was not too high and after the daily treatment, after five o’clock of the piste, it will be good skiing again tomorrow.
This beautiful day of only 23 hours is over. The melting snow on the tops of the mountains gives a unique, glooming, but hard to describe, sighting. The large cumulus clouds of yesterday were present also on this day. They were even bigger and the end of the afternoon they produced during a short period some light snow and hail, that does not exist for long at 2000 meter.

The sun keeps shining and so again a beautiful day. Last night the temperature was below zero. During early morning the well prepared pistes were frozen and looked like corduroy. At the end of the morning the pistes were soft again. The higher pistes in Val Thorens were this afternoon very pleasant.
The weather is unchanged, only today no cumulus clouds. This sort of weather is perfect for sunbathing but perhaps not so good for the snow conditions on the piste. The snow is going to transform too fast into water. The high pressure all over western Europe is moving westward and some cold from the east is coming. And moreover there is enough snow for the rest of the season.

Again a wonderful day.
After 11.00 all pistes in Les Menuires, like the Becca, Pezolet, Granges, were in good shape with nice soft snow. Only lower pistes are slushy during most time of the day.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Everything unchanged, only some snow less!
Perfect soft spring snow on the well prepared black run Face in Méribel. Kate and William are here, but we did not see them.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

This Friday is for many tourists the end of a beautiful spring week with all days 100% sunshine and good skiing conditions during several hours a day.
On several places off pistes there is much soft snow with a thin frozen toplayer left. Skiing there gives the horrible sound of cracking ice.
The same beautiful weather is before.
Around noon the red piste David Douillet is at its best. This piste is groomed every night and is nearly without any moguls. It hard to believe that nobody make use of this piste during that time.
The beautiful weather continues.
Due to the high temperatures of the last week there is hardly no snow left below 1800 meter. On most pistes there is enough snow for the coming Eastern week. At the end of the day the lower pistes are worn out. Slush and brown spots are common on these pistes.
The weather is changing and is little less beautiful. More clouds that cover the sunshine. That good for the snow, but less good for the terraces of the restaurants. The temperature is still unchanged, but the humidity is much higher. There is lot of very good snow on the higher pistes in Mottaret, but hardly nobody is using it.

Today it was skiing between the clouds.
There was 1 cm fresh at the summits, some some drizzle at the end of the day and skiing in 20 cm deep slush below 2200 meter is very heavy.
Some fresh snow at high altitude. During the morning foggy with low hanging clouds. In the afternoon some sunny spells, hail, light snow fall and at the end of the day some rain at 2000 meter. The snowconditions become worse every day. There are a lot of people in Val Thorens so the pistes there are within in a hour after opening completely changed into great wet snowheaps. Under this less favorable conditions the English youngsters are doing other creative things to amuse themselves.

Again some fresh snow at high altitude. The snow was much better today due to the slightly lower temperatures. A great part of the day the sun was shining, although there were big cumulus clouds.

It is cold, just like a return of the winter.
There is light snowfall since yesterday night until this afternoon. The amount of snow is not much and varies between 5 and 10 cm depending on the height.
Because it is freezing now above 2000 meter all soft wet snow is transformed into ice.
Most of the pistes have a very hard underground and topping of a few centimeters fresh snow. Very big clouds made it very foggy, but also sometimes during very short moments holes in the clouds with sunshine.
The sun has returned and so it was a beautiful day. There was good snow on the higher pistes and most of the pistes near St Martin and Mottaret were completely desolated.
